Dr. Ferrara
Ferrara's alter-ego, Cryogonal Man

Dr. Ferrara (Japanese: ツララー博士 Dr. Tsuraraa) is a character of the day who appeared in The Mighty Accelguard to the Rescue!. He is the leader of Team Vanillite, a criminal gang in Driftveil City.

He first appeared inside the Cold Storage with his two henchmen. He planned to take over Unova by assembling an army of Ice Pokémon. He and his henchmen were in the process of stealing all the frozen food from across Unova to bribe the Pokémon into joining Team Vanillite. Dr. Ferrara later appeared when Linda was investigating the Cold Storage and took her hostage. In an attempt to run away from the group, he took on the alter-ego Cryogonal Man (Japanese: フリージ男 Freege Man) with a Cryogonal mask on his face.

Despite all of that, he did not succeed in his plan and ended up being arrested for his criminal deeds.

Pokémon

Vanillish
Ferrara's Vanillish

Despite wearing a Cryogonal mask, Dr. Ferrara's only Pokémon was a Vanillish (which he admitted was due to his inability to catch a Cryogonal), which appeared at the climax of The Mighty Accelguard to the Rescue!. It battled Charles's Accelgor, but was knocked out by Accelgor's blinding speed and Swift.

Vanillish's known moves are Icy Wind, Icicle Spear, and Sheer Cold.

Trivia

  • His Japanese name presumably comes from 氷柱, Tsurara, the Japanese word for icicle.
  • Freege Man is a play on Cryogonal's Japanese name, Freegeo, as well as the Japanese word for man, otoko. Literally, it is Freege-otoko.
  • Freege Man's name could also be a reference to the Batman villain Mr. Freeze.
  • The professor's henchmen, with their costume and scream in mind, were most likely based on the foot soldiers of the Shocker organization of the Kamen Rider franchise.
