Description This Trainer set off on her journey from Kanto’s Pallet Town. She likes to go on leisurely walks with her partner Eevee, who is strangely able to use Secret Techniques.

Elaine (Japanese: アユミ Ayumi) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the core series games. She forms a sync pair with partner Eevee. This pair was first made available through a Poké Fair sync pair scout beginning on November 17, 2023. This pair can be raised to Masters EX star.png 6★ EX since it first released.

History

Elaine has experienced similar events to her core series counterpart. Elaine received her first partner Pokémon, Eevee, from Professor Oak. Elaine also had help from Chase while on her journey.

In events

Let's Go in Search of Wonder

After watching a video about a talking Eevee, Elaine decides to go find it herself. While searching, she mistakes Eve for the talking Eevee. After throwing a Poké Ball at her, Elaine realizes that Eve is just a Poké Kid. After introducing each other and bonding over their love for Eevee, they decide to look for the talking Eevee together.

They first talk to Adaman, Irida, Rei, and Akari to see if they know about a talking Eevee, but they say that they've never heard of one in Pasio or Hisui. They next talk to Leaf, Misty, and Erika, but they have never heard of a talking Eevee either. The two eventually get discouraged about finding the talking Eevee, but then they notice a person wearing an Eevee bag and assume that they must know a lot about Eevee. The person turns out to be Penny, and after talking to each other, Penny tells them that there is a secret gathering of Eevee fans where they might hear stories that wouldn't come up among typical Eevee fans. Penny decides to join them to introduce them to the secret Eevee fans so they won't get chucked out, as she too wants to meet a talking Eevee.

After Penny introduces Elaine and Eve to the secret Eevee fans, one fan says that they never heard of a talking Eevee, but says that the other fans might and encourages them to ask around and hang out with the Eevee while doing so. While hanging out, Elaine shows off her Eevee's Secret Technique Chop Down, which impresses everyone on her mysterous Eevee's skill, with one fan asking if her Eevee can talk. Elaine asks her Eevee to talk, but to no avail. Eve starts to get discouraged, while Penny wonders if a talking Pokémon is even possible. Elaine suggests asking Professor Oak about the topic.

The group arrives at Professor Bellis's laboratory, where they meet Professor Oak, Blue, and Nemona. Elaine asks Professor Oak about talking Pokémon, to which he says it isn't impossible, using Chatot as an example of a Pokémon speaking with human words. Professor Oak theorizes that a Pokémon could try to mimic human speech as some sort of reaction. Elaine thanks Professor Oak for the explanation, but she still wishes Pokémon and people could speak to each other.

Days later, the group is still looking for a talking Pokémon and asks Valerie about it. While talking, they hear a voice that says "I love you!", with Elaine and Eve thinking that the voice was cute.

Let's Go for Number One!

While in the city, the player (Scottie or Bettie) and Elaine have just learned that a time trial is about to take place. They consider entering, but they need a third sync pair to form a team. Suddenly, Elaine's friend Chase arrives, and ask her why everyone is gather around. She tells him about the time trials, with him asking to join her team. Elaine is annoyed that Chase hasn't introduce himself to the player, and starts introducing hims to the player. She mentions that he's good at running (along with running his mouth), and that they both came from Pallet Town. She also mentions that his Pikachu is unusual like her Eevee. Chase claims that he is good at Pokémon battles, and that he even helped Elaine while on her journey, to which she claims that she helped him. After introductions, he decides that they should practice by racing to the square as a team, much to Elaine's annoyance.

After the time trials are over, the player, Elaine, and Chase return to the city to see how they placed. To their shock, they discover that Red's team placed first. Just then, Red and his Pikachu arrive, alongside his teammates Blue and Leaf. Blue commends the player's team for almost reaching their time. After a little more competitive banter, Red, Blue, and Leaf leave. Chase vows that he and his partner will become a better sync pair than Red and Pikachu one day, and he and Pikachu race off towards the sunset, with Elaine following behind them.

Trivia

  • Elaine's debut date in Pokémon Masters EX (November 17, 2023) was one day after the fifth anniversary of the release of her debut games, Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! (November 16, 2018).
  • All versions of Elaine use special voice-over lines upon entering a team that contains certain Trainers (regardless of their partner Pokémon). Those Trainers include Red, Leaf, Blue, Chase, and Professor Oak.
    • Elaine also uses special voice-over lines upon winning a battle with Red, Leaf, Blue, or Chase in the same team.
  • Elaine, May, and Chase are the only player characters who have never been able to be battled in Pokémon Masters EX.
  • Elaine and Chase are one of two pairs of protagonists where it is unknown which one is based on the player character from their games of origin, the other being Elio and Selene.
    • During the Let's Go for Number One! time trial event, both Chase and Elaine claim they helped the other one out in battles while in Kanto. This may be a reference to the co-op feature from Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, which allows two players to battle Trainers together. This may also imply that one is based on the player character, while the other is based on the Support Trainer from the Let's Go! games.

Origin

Elaine's design is based on her appearance in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!. Eevee is the first partner Pokémon in Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee!. Eevee's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.
