Sharpedo (Japanese: サメハダー Samehader; German: Tohaido; French: Sharpedo) is a Water/Dark-type Pokémon.
Pokédex entries
- Pokémon Ruby
- Nicknamed "the bully of the sea," Sharpedo is widely feared. Its cruel fangs grow back immediately if they snap off. Just one of these Pokémon can thoroughly tear apart a supertanker.
- Pokémon Emerald
- The vicious and sly gangster of the sea. Its skin is specially textured to minimize drag in water. Its speed tops out at over 75 miles per hour.
Name origin
Sharpedo's name is a combination of the words shark and torpedo. Samehader may be a corruption of 鮫肌 samehada, fishskin, perhaps referring to its Rough Skin ability. In addition, its name may be a combination of 鮫 same, shark, and 肌荒れ hada-are, rough skin.
Sharpedo is based on a shark.
