==Origin==
===Origin===
It would seem that Ponyta, along with its evolution Rapidash, are based on Pyrios, Aeos, Aethon, and Phlegon, the "fiery steeds" that carried the Greek God Helios's Chariot of the Sun around the world each day.

Ponyta's physiology is similar to that of a horse. However, its mane and tail are made of flame rather than the usual hair. It is capable of leaping tall buildings in a single bound. In order to withstand the force of landing, its hooves are ten times harder than diamond.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Ponyta's ability, Flash Fire, causes it to power up if it is hit by a Template:Type2 move, and causes the move to have no effect.
Ponyta is an herbivore, mainly eating grasses, small shrubs, berries, etc. It seems to have a special taste for the Shuca Berry, as it's sometimes found with it.
