A Pokémon Trainer is a person who captures and trains Pokémon. Such people are the main characters in Pokémon TV shows and movies. Some well-known examples of Trainers are Ash, Misty, Tracey, etc.
In Pokémon video games, you play a Trainer who attempts to catch all Pokémon, as well as battle all the Gym Leaders.
A Trainer catches a Pokémon by finding it in the wild, and battling them using their own Pokémon. Once the wild Pokémon is weak, the trainer will then throw an object known as a Poké Ball at it.
