Charizard (Japanese: リザードン Lizardon) is the Pokémon given to Green by his grandfather, Professor Oak.

History

Green received Charizard as a Charmander in A Glimpse of the Glow. Green tried using it against Mew, but failed due to Red accidentally catching its attention. Some where before Sigh for Psyduck, Charmander evolved into Charmeleon. It was then used against Brock in the Pewter Gym, during Onix is On!. It easily defeated Brock's Onix, giving Green the Boulder Badge. It evolved once again, some time before Kalling Kadabra. In the Pokémon League, it was used against Red's Saur, where it lost because of Red's Lightning Rod strategy. In the GSC arc, Green lent Red his Charizard so he could make it across the ragged mountains. Red returned Charizard in the FRLG arc. During said arc, Green took it to Kimberly where she taught it the ultimate fire attack Blast Burn.
