Electivire (Japanese: エレキブル Elekible) is an Template:Type2 Pokémon.

It evolves from Electabuzz when traded holding a Electrizer. It is the final form of Elekid.

Biology

Physiology

Electivire is a humanoid creature covered in yellow fur with black stripes, and five black fingers on each of its hands. It lacks a neck, similarly to its baby form, Elekid, and has red eyes, a black spot on its forehead and the same antennae as Electabuzz. There is a pattern on Electivire's back that resembles an electric outlet, and it has two black tails that each have a red tip. Electivire has black feet with three toes in the front.

Special abilities

Electivire can use attacks that its pre-evolutions can use, except that Electivire's attacks will be more powerful. However, Electivire is also capable of knowing Flamethrower, Earthquake and Rock Slide. Electrical attacks are unable to do any damage to Electivire, but they will instead sharply increase its speed.

Behavior

Electivire are cruel creatures that enjoy bullying younger, weaker Pokémon simply for enjoyment. Other Pokémon such as Ambipom, Tyranitar and Rapidash usually fight back to protect their young and fend Electivire off.

Electivire can be hard to tame by trainers, so it is considered best to evolve one from its baby stage, Elekid.

Habitat

Electivire hide away in complex power plants. Some also live atop cliffs and mountains, while some nest in dark, dense forests.

Diet

Electivire usually feed off of electric currents. In the last episode of the Advanced Generation series, when Team Rocket first see Gary's Electivire, it was eating fruit that it got off of the trees.

Gary Oak used an Electivire to battle against Ash's Pikachu in Home is Where the Start Is.

Gary's Electivire appeared once more in Ill-Will Hunting! It was used to protect Shieldon from being captured by Pokémon Hunter J.

• Electivire has the highest base Attack stat out of all Template:Type2 Pokémon.
• Electivire is the currently the only Template:Type2 Pokémon that can learn Earthquake.
• Electivire is one of a few Pokémon whose species name is the same as the name of a move. In Electivire's case, the move is Thunderbolt.
• Electivire is the only Electric-type Pokémon to learn Giga Impact by level up.
• Electivire, along with Magmortar, Gliscor, and Tangrowth, are the only Generation IV Pokémon that explicitly required the use of a Generation III game in order to be available until the release of Pokémon Platinum. In this case, both the Electirizer and Elekid are only available through dual-slot mode with Pokémon FireRed.
  • This is, of course, ignoring the special Electivire available through Battle Revolution.

Origin

Electivire seems to be based on a yeti. It is also very likely to be based on a gorilla. However, its Motor Drive ability which boosts speed after being struck by an electric attack by stimulating its muscles to help move faster is similar to Mary Shelly's Frankenstein which was created by electricity.

Name origin

Elekible is believed to be combination of エレキテル erekiteru, electricity, and ケーブル kēburu, cable. Electivire is based off of the words electricity and wire, as in the two cord-like tails it has. Its name could have also been based off of virus, referring to computer viruses, or vampire, because its ability Template:A2.
