Alakazam (Japanese: フーディン Foodin) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.
It evolves from Kadabra when traded. It is the final form of Abra.
Biology
Physiology
Alakazam is characterized by its human-like structure and its fox-like appearance. It has grown slightly since evolving from Kadabra and has become much more lanky. It has lost the Zener markings and its tail which it had as a Kadabra and its head (and more importantly, its brain) has become much larger, giving it extremely powerful mental powers. It is bipedal with three toes on each foot, each of which has a white claw, and an extremely prominent mustache (which is less prominent in females - see below). It wields a silver spoon in each hand which acts as an amplifier for its special abilities.
Gender differences
A female has a shorter mustache.
Special abilities
It is said that Alakazam is known to have mastered every type and form of psychic ability, including, but not limited to, telekinesis, telepathy, telepathy, psionic abilities, levitation, defensive techniques, mind control, and telekinetic blasts. It can remember everything that it has experienced upon hatching as an Abra, and has an IQ that exceeds 5,000, making it powerfully intelligent.
Alakazam, and its pre-evolution, Kadabra, are the only known Pokémon that learn Kinesis.
Behavior
Each Alakazam carries two spoons everywhere it goes. These spoons are said to increase this Pokémon's psychic ability greatly. It is also a known fact that Alakazam's IQ is around 5000, and are considered to be the second most intelligent Pokémon. It is also said that they have excellent memory, and can remember everything from the moment they were born.
Habitat
Alakazam live in urban areas, close to humans. They are mostly found in abandoned buildings left to disrepair.

In the Pokémon Special manga
Alakazam debuts in Buzz Off, Electabuzz! when Red frees the Pokémon kidnapped by Lt. Surge; instead of his beloved Abra, the President of the Pokémon Fan Club finds himself with a not-so-cute Alakazam.
In Template:PSV, after Red's aptitude test to be the Gym Leader of Viridian City, a swarm of wild Pokémon suddenly appear outside the Gym after being attracted by Pokémon March music, one of which is an Alakazam. Green captures all of them with his Scizor. Alakazam is seen again in Template:PSV as part of Green's team for the Gym Leader faceoff, and again in Template:PSV as one of the Pokémon in Viridian Gym. Trivia
- Alakazam weighs less than its pre-evolution, Kadabra.
- Although it doesn't have a tail, Alakazam is able to learn the move Iron Tail.
- Although somewhat hard to see, Alakazam has the Star of David on its forehead in its Pokémon Red and Green frontal sprite.
- Despite being said to have weak muscles (as well as a low Attack stat), Alakazam has been seen using physical attacks, such as punching, many times in the anime, usually to great effect.
Origin
Alakazam's spoons are a reference to the magician Uri Geller, who claimed to have the ability to bend spoons with his mind. See the article on Kadabra for more information. Like Abra and Kadabra, Alakazam shares physical traits with foxes.
Name origin
Alakazam's name is another incantation used in stage magic, similar to Abracadabra. Its Japanese name can be spelled Houdin, and is probably a reference to Jean Eugène Robert-Houdin or Harry Houdini, who were both famous magicians.
In other languages
- German: Simsala - In German, the phrase goes "Abra, Kadabra, Simsala(bim)" instead of Alakazam at the end.
- French: Alakazam
- Korean: 후딘 Hudin
- Chinese (Taiwan): 胡地
- Chinese (Hong Kong): 富迪 - Transliteration of its Japanese name.
