Spiky-eared Pichu (Japanese: ギザみみピチュー Notched-ear Pichu) is a female Pichu. Her physical appearance is no different from an ordinary Pichu, other than the three spikes at the tip of her left ear, hence her name. She is very fond of Grepa Berries.

In the anime

The Spiky-eared Pichu appeared in the movie Arceus and the Jewel of Life. In the movie, she gives her friend, Damos, the keys to his cell after he has been imprisoned by Gishin.

She was first mentioned at the end of a movie preview when movie director Kunihiko Yuyama talked about a "small, yellow Electric-type that would save the world." Then a short clip showed her playing with Pikachu, but she was blocked by a big circle, and all that could be seen were the "notches" on her ear. The same scene was shown again at the end of the official trailer and she was fully visible.

In the games

She appears in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, and is an event Pokémon obtained in Ilex Forest activated by owning the Pikachu-colored Pichu from the twelfth movie promotion and going to Celebi's shrine, after which she can join the player's party. She has her own unique in-battle and overworld sprites and cannot evolve or be traded outside of HeartGold and SoulSilver. Aside from her unique sprite, moves, and inability to be traded or evolve she is identical to a normal Pichu in terms of stats. She, like other Pokémon, can also be Template:Shiny2.

If taken to Professor Elm of New Bark Town, it is revealed that the Pichu has traveled in time with Celebi. Elm claims that he and Professor Oak were researching the time travel abilities of Celebi, and claims that this Pichu proves his main theory. He adds that the reason it cannot evolve is because it has been time traveling for so long. He will then call all the Pokémon Center attendants to prevent Spiky-eared Pichu from being used in trades.
