Spinda (Japanese: パッチール Patcheel) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon. Spinda's spots have over 4 billion possible combinations, and are determined by its Personality Value.
It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.
Biology
Physiology
No Spinda is the same as another. All Spinda have different spots and spin patterns on their head and torso. Spinda resembles a small, upward standing rabbit- or bear-like creature, with a small body similar to that of Plusle or Minun. Spinda also has a circular red pattern on the underside of its feet.
Gender differences
Although there is no specific difference among males and females, all Spinda look different anyway.
Special abilities
A handful of Spinda's attacks involve causing confusion, including the rarely seen Teeter Dance. Spinda can also use a handful of other Psychic attacks, such as the rarely seen Psycho Cut and Role Play. It is also capable of physical combat, such as using the elemental punches and Flail.
Spinda can either have the Own Tempo ability or the sparsely seen Tangled Feet ability.
Behavior
Spinda have the odd habit of staggering around when they walk. This makes them appear dizzy, but they are not. The teetering walk helps to confuse enemies and potential predators, messing up their aim.
Habitat
Diet

In the anime
Spinda first appeared in Going for a Spinda. Ash and co. had to help a girl named Claire find a Spinda with a heart-shaped spot on its forehead. Brock, meanwhile, kept picking one up with a broken heart-shaped spot, to his displeasure.

NPC appearances
- Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: One day, a Spinda appears in Pokémon Square and collapses. When it regains consciousness, Spinda explains that it is giving up a long journey to find the Mirage Pokémon and hands its one clue, the Clear Wing, to the player. The player must then solve the Mystery of the Mirage Pokémon, which will reward him or her with the Rainbow Wing. After showing the Rainbow Wing to Spinda, it becomes happy and leaves Pokémon Square.
- Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky: Spinda runs Spinda's café and takes over the juice bar. A Wynaut and a Wobbuffet also work at the café running the recycle shop. Later in the game, project P is introduced. After it is introduced, occasionally when speaking to Wynaut the player may gain access to a dungeon normally accessed by selecting a job with ??? as the location or get a choice of more items in the recycle shop.

Trivia
- Several of Spinda's moves focus on confusing opponents. Spinda's abilities also focus on confusion.
- A Spinda's spot pattern is determined by its personality value, meaning that there can be exactly 4,294,967,296 (232) different variations of Spinda, or double that number if one considers shiny Spindas as different variations.
- If each spot combination is considered a different form of Spinda, then even without including shiny forms, Spinda has more alternate forms than any other Pokémon, and in fact, has several orders of magnitude more alternate forms than all variations of all other currently existing Pokémon combined, including shiny versions.
- In Pokémon Battle Revolution, Toxic is depicted as two purple orbs spinning around each other towards the target. However, when Spinda uses Toxic the orbs travel erratically.
- Spinda is remarkably light for its size; it is a foot taller than Skitty, yet less than half the weight.
Origin
Spinda's body structure is based on the panda with elongated rabbit ears. The different spot patterns may be a reference to red pandas, which also have their own unique markings.
Name origin
Spinda's name is a combination of spin and panda, referring to its fur patterns. Its Japanese name is based on patch or patchwork, referring to its appearance, and 拈くる hinekuru, twirl or spin.
