The Rivalry Revival (Japanese: ライバルたいけつ!サトシVSシゲル!! Rival Showdown! Satoshi VS Shigeru!!) is the 116th episode of the Pokémon anime. It was first broadcast in Japan on October 7, 1999 and in the United States on October 14, 2000.
Synopsis
Template:Incomplete synopsis An errand of Professor Oak’s sets Ash on the road once again, but first he must face his old hometown rival, Gary, in a Pokémon battle.

- Ash battles with Pikachu against Gary and his Eevee and loses.
- Ash and co. learn about the Johto region.
- Gary leaves for the Johto region.
- Professor Oak asks Ash to take the GS Ball to Azalea Town and give it to Kurt.
- Brock rejoins the group and says he'll travel to Johto with Ash and Misty.
- Tracey decides to stay in Pallet Town and become Professor Oak's assistant.
