Lopunny are bipedal Pokémon that are based on real-life rabbits. They stand at approximately three to four feet tall, with a dark brown pelt, long, warm ears and round tails. They also have a fluffy, cream pelt that is found on the ends of their ears, legs and arms, as well as distinctive large 'eyebrows'. Lopunny have black pupils with red irises, with small pink noses and inner ears.
Despite Lopunny's feminine appearance, they have a 1:1 gender ratio.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Lopunny have been found with the abilities Cute Charm or Klutz. Cute Charm infatuates foes on contact if they are of the opposite gender to Lopunny. Klutz places Lopunny at a disadvantage by rendering it unable to use held items in battle.
Lopunny is also the only Pokémon to learn the move Return by leveling up; this is likely related to the fact that it evolves by happiness. It also learns a few Template:Type2 moves such as Mirror Coat and Healing Wish by leveling up.
Being Template:Type2 Pokémon, Lopunny are able to learn a variety of TM moves across many different types, enabling a flexible moveset.
Behavior
These Pokémon are normally very cautious and timid. It cloaks its body with its fluffy ear fur when it senses danger, and, being very conscious of its looks, never fails to groom its ears. It runs with sprightly jumps. It sheds its fur twice a year, and its winter fur is soft and fluffy.
It is often found in small huddles with other Lopunny and sometimes squabbling over trivial things. Its young, Buneary, often decides to run and hide in its mother's fur.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky: Team Charm debut in their own special episode, Lopunny being the playable character. She is shown to be the fun loving member of the group, even ending almost all of her sentences with hearts. The team hears about the treasure filled Southern Jungle. They are advised to stay away by a Bellossom but the team continued on. They find a passed out Wigglytuff, who fainted due to hunger and give him a Perfect Apple, revitalizing him. They encounter Team AWD, who believe the team is pathetic. Before they enter, a Sentret pleads Charm to stop AWD, saying they were cruel to it. The team arrives at the dungeon's end, which holds an empty chest. AWD accuses Charm of taking the treasure and they fight. Wigglytuff appears to stop the brawl, and reveals that the chest is a Ditto. The Bellossom and Sentret earlier were also him. He reveals he is there to guard a Time Gear and the teams leave. They later bribe Wigglytuff with a Perfect Apple to join their team.

Its pre-evolution learns Frustration at the same level, and is also the only one to learn it by leveling up.
Origin
Lopunny appears to be a caricature of a Playboy Bunny or other bunny girls as seen in popular culture. The bunny girl costumes of Playboy fame are still quite popular in Japanese adult media, which might explain the Lopunny's coquettish cry and girlish figure. It is also likely based on the lop rabbit, or more specifically the Holland Lop. It's designed after a woman, possibly a fashion model, wearing womens' fur or faux fur-cuffed gloves and boots.
Name origin
Lopunny is a combination of lop and bunny. Its Japanese name Mimilop is a combination of 耳 (mimi) meaning "ear" and "lop", which is a type of rabbit with ears that flop over rather than standing erect.
In other languages
German: Schlapor - Wordplay on Schlappohr (colloquial term for "bunny" hinting at hanging ears).
French: Lockpin - From dreadlock and lapin (bunny).
