Minccino, Swanna, Klink, and Blitzle participating in a Musical

(Japanese: ポケモンミュージカル Pokémon Musical) is a feature in the Generation V games Pokémon Black and White. Like Pokémon Contests, Pokémon Super Contests and the Pokéathlon from previous games, this feature provides Trainers with an alternative to battling.

Pokémon Musicals feature a modified version of the appeals round in the Super Contests of Generation IV. Just like in Super Contests, Trainers have to dress up their Pokémon in different accessories. In the competition round, Pokémon compete by dancing on the theater stage with the other entrants. Similar to Pokémon Contests and the Pokéathlon, there are four Trainers allowed to participate at once.

Dressing up

The first part of the Pokémon Musical involves dressing up the Pokémon by putting accessories onto it. Accessories can be obtained and are placed in the Goods Case. If the costume fits the song, more points are awarded. What is worn is vital for the Musical, as these accessories can be waved around for appeal; however, each accessory may only be waved around once.

Dancing

When Pokémon are dressed, it is time to perform with the music. If the audience likes the Pokémon, they throw items which the player can keep. New pieces of music can be downloaded from the Global Link. The player cannot influence the Musical itself, so the dressing up must be near perfect to impress the crowd.
