This was the first Pokémon card to have a Resistance to its own type.
A prerelease version of this card was created as a Pokémon League promo. It featured the holographic version of this card.
There are 2 versions of the prerelease cards. One features the old US "starry foil" pattern that was used in the Base - Fossil sets and the other features a gold stamp and the "cosmic" foil pattern that was used in the Team Rocket set - on.

Prehistoric Power's Japanese name is that of AncientPower, a move that later appeared in Generation II of the Pokémon games that Aerodactyl can learn. Wing Attack is also a move in the games that Aerodactyl can learn. This card's English Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Red and Blue, whereas the Japanese entry comes from Pokémon Red and Green.
