Trivia
- Pansear is the only Pokémon outside of Generation I Pokémon to evolve via the Fire Stone.
- Pansear, along with Pansage and Panpour, and their respective evolutions, are the only non-starter Pokémon that can have a starter Pokémon-exclusive Ability. In Pansear and Simisear's case, this is Blaze.
- Pansear's evolutionary line are the only elemental monkeys that are unable to learn any moves that are otherwise exclusively available from TMs naturally; Pansage is able to learn Grass Knot, while Panpour's family can learn Scald.
Origin
Pansear is based on a monkey and a flame. It, along with its two contemporaries, seem to inspired by the three wise monkeys motif; with its hand by its ear, Pansear represents "hear no evil".
Name origin
Pansear may be a combination of Pan (the genus of Chimpanzees), sear, and ear. Ear may relate to the "three wise monkeys" motif of the elemental monkeys. It may also be a play on pan searing.
Baoppu may be a combination of 爆 bào (Chinese for burst/explode), バースト bāsuto (burst), and ape.
