Growth increases the user's Special stat by one stage. Growth will do nothing if the user's Special has reached six stages or a value of 999. The effect of Growth is ignored by critical hits.
Generation II and on
The effects of Growth are the same as the previous generation, however, it increases user's Special Attack stat instead.
In the anime
Tangrowth. Tangrowth emits a green beam from its hands that gives a dying tree the energy to grow.

Trivia
Despite this move being a Template:Type2 move, no Normal-type Pokémon can learn it, apart from Eevee's special NYPC event in Gen II.
In addition, the only other Pokémon that can learn Growth that are not Template:Type2 are Illumise, Poliwag, and Spinarak and even then, only through breeding or special NYPC events.
