The Mt Moon caves have decreased in size over the years, ending up as a single tunnel connecting Route 3 and Route 4. As soon as you set foot into the cave, your rival shows up to challenge you to a battle.
Make a mental note to visit the small courtyard on a Monday night. A group of Clefairy can be seen here, dancing and worshiping the moon. If interrupted, the group will run off, leaving a large rock behind. Smashing it reveals a Moon Stone.
Enter the southern cave and jump the ledge to exit to Route 4.
