Pokémon watcher Tracey

A Pokémon Watcher (Japanese: ポケモンウォッチャー Pokémon watcher) is a person who studies Pokémon, observing them under the ownership of a Pokémon Trainer and in their natural habitat.

Role

Pokémon Watchers are dedicated to the study of Pokémon, and travel the world to observe their characteristics, behaviours and abilities. They also search for new, undiscovered Pokémon. As a result, watchers have a broad knowledge about Pokémon and can evaluate a Pokémon's health based on its diet, skin condition and the effectiveness of their moves.

A Pokémon Watcher carries out field research for long periods of time and data gathering tasks. They also spend time writing research articles and reports that may be peer-reviewed by Pokémon Professors and later published.

A notebook, pen and binoculars are the main tools of the trade. Watchers can also raise Pokémon with abilities like good eyesight or hearing to assist in locating a certain Pokémon.

Pokémon Watchers, like some Pokémon researchers, are known to be eccentric due to their overwhelming fascination with Pokémon. The famous Pokémon Watcher Dr. Quackenpoker, for instance, devoted his entire life to studying Magikarp.
