Sorry but isn't Iceland grassy, and Greenland icy??? --Theryguy512 22:04, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Both I guess. Tina δ 22:09, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, I guess that Iceland is warmer than any other place that has a similar latitude. However, I still think Arcticuno fits for representing Iceland since it is near the Arctic Circle.--Pokencyclopedia 22:35, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ireland

It's not a Pokémon, but.......

Um, though this may be stupid, I saw that Ireland's Coat of Arms has a harp on it. Though it's not an animal, how about the Mew Harp Picture??? Though, I do think that Shaymin idea is very clever, since leprechauns are from Ireland, and they are green and sharp. Nice Idea, Pokencyclopedia! --Theryguy512 22:11, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I wasn't even thinking about leprechauns when I picked Shaymin...--Pokencyclopedia 22:35, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I dunno. Anime screenshots aren't really preferred for userboxes... and lol what do you mean by 'Nice idea, Tina'? XD; I don't remember doing anything, lol. Tina δ 22:15, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh, sorry! I thought that it was you who made that edit. In that case, thank you, Pokencyclopedia! --Theryguy512 22:16, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Canada

A Unicorn!?!? Why not a moose (Stantler)! Canada is more famous for moose than unicorns!!! --Theryguy512 00:41, 7 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

But the Canadian coat of arms has a Unicorn on it.--Pokencyclopedia 00:57, 7 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yea, but most people don't know the flag. I live in the U.S., I don't know the flag, and when I think of Canada, I think of moose. --Theryguy512 01:01, 7 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I said the Coat of Arms not the flag. But, if you want Stantler, go right ahead and change it.--Pokencyclopedia 12:14, 7 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Okay, well, I changed it to Stantler. --Theryguy512 14:51, 9 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

uhm. can I argue that moose (Elg) is what Norway is most known for too (can't think of anything else) and perhaps Ursaring can be Grizzly-bear for Canada? ~ZaphodBeeblebrox 21:21, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

North & South Korea

What are we going to do with these countries? One idea that I had was going for symbols to represent Korea being divided between Communism and Capitalism, but the problem with that would be coming up with a Pokémon that can represent capitalism (we already have Grumpig for User Communist). At the moment, I picked Laturn to represent North Korea because the North Korea Coat of Arms has a hydroelectric plant on it. The South Korean Coat of arms has a taeguk symbol and five stylized petals of a Hibiscus syriacus. Anyone else have any good ideas?--Pokencyclopedia 12:15, 7 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Do we need a template for North Korea? Only one person has a computer there, his name is Kim Il-Sung and he isn't a member here. --Maxim 12:33, 7 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Is this true? Why do only one person there owns a computer? Netto-kun Talk 12:36, 7 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
You didn't get the joke, right? Kim Il-Sung is North Korea's ruler. He doesn't even allow North Koreans to have computers. They are not only too poor for that, but they're also forbidden from many things (do you think there are shops in North Korea, if yes, then you are wrong). It's because North Korea is so fuckin' totalitarian country. - unsigned comment from Maxim (talkcontribs)

Fine, I got rid of the one for North Korea. Now what Pokémon can we use to represent Korea as a whole?--Pokencyclopedia 20:41, 7 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Actually, Kim Jong-Il is the leader, Il-Sung's still their technical leader even though he's DEAD because that country is so screwed up. TTEchidnaGSDS! 23:35, 8 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Tiger is a national animal of the whole Korea. Korean Football Association uses tiger as the association crest. --Ksiom 09:09, 26 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Poland

What does Poland have to do with Togekiss?

And why is Transylvania listed, it's not a country. It's a part of Romania. And I don't see a template for Romania. --Maxim 12:29, 7 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, I was quite shocked with that Togekiss - I also think that Togekiss is not so appropriate; Whatsmore, Polish flag's official colors are not pure "white and red", but #E9E8E7 and #D4213D, respectively. Piotr mil 20:27, 9 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

...And no tag for Cuba either?

Before I considered doing a tag for Cuba, I looked it up on Wikipedia and it stated that the Cuban government "represses free expression by limiting access to the Internet." How limited is this? Is Cuba's national legislature the only people that own computers?--Pokencyclopedia 22:56, 8 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yea, I tried thinking about one for Cuba a few days ago....and the flag and Coat of Arms have no animals on them. --Theryguy512 14:44, 9 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
How about Unown Q to represent the key on the coat of arms?--Pokencyclopedia 16:36, 9 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well here are the possibilities:

  1. A Key
  2. A Tree
  3. A rising sun
  4. Cherries

What one should we pick??? --Theryguy512 20:04, 9 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wait... cherries= Cherubi. --Groudon465Talk | Decks 21:35, 19 December, 2007 (UTC)

Egypt

I'm changing Blaziken on Egypt to Unown (hyroglyphics). --Groudon465Talk | Decks 21:38, 19 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Good Idea. MERRY CHRISTMAS 21:40, 19 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unown has been changed to Luxray. I think it should be Mew. In ancient Egypt, people worshipped cats, and not only is Mew a cat, it's a cat of legend. Flyingtypefan 06:07, 7 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, maybe. Also, please don't forget to sign your comments.--Pokélova! 04:59, 7 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Natu for New Zealand

I used Natu to represtent New Zealand, since it looks a little bit like a kiwi, the national icon of New Zealand. If anybody can think of a more appropriate Pokémon to represent New Zealand, feel free to change it. 3190 02:58, 8 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well, before I saw this Natu on NZ thing, I had Shellder. My Dad says that NZ has the best oysters, and so I put Shellder. But I don't want to change it.--Pokelova 20:13, 16 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Shellder sounds good, although I think New Zealand's more famous for its exotic bird life than for its seafood. Doduo's Origin section mentions a couple of native New Zealand birds, so we could change it to that. How many other New Zealanders are on this wiki? Bardock 10:38, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Not many. 6 maybe--Pokelova 19:19, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Just thought I'd add that Natu's Origin section states that it is based off of a Parrot. Weird--Pokelova 19:25, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well, Digimon have Kiwimon, so maybe one day there'll be a kiwi based Pokémon... In the mean time, shall we change to Shellder or Doduo, or just keep Natu? Bardock 11:25, 26 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Bhutan and India

Bhutan should be represented by a Dragon-type Pokémon like Dragonite instead of the Ampharos (if there are any Takin-like Pokémon there then they should represent Bhutan). Also, India should be represented by a Tiger-like Pokémon.maria-williams 11:30, 18 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

A Gyarados for Bhutan? or a Rayquaza? The dragon in the flag of Bhutan is not a bipedal.. An Arcanine for India, I guess. Ҝəυzø8 11:39, 18 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Rayquaza I guess. As for Arcanine for India, isn't it more dog-like than tiger-like?--maria-williams 12:14, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Raikou (or the other beasts)! Or wynaut a tiger cat? =P Ҝəυzø8 12:19, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Meditite/Medicham or Arbok is perfect for India. J-J-M 22:42, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Raikou would not be bad either. Most of the countries listed here have something related to their national animals. As for the Medi-s, they are more associated with yoga which in turn is more associated with Hinduism. However, India is a secular country and so we should not put something representing only one among the hundreds of religions practiced in India. As for Arbok...I don't know. What relation does India have with a snake?--Sher-e-Bengal- 10:35, 23 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Europe Template

Why did the Europe Template I created get deleted? I know Europe isn't a country but some like myself would liek to put a "come's from Europe" template on their page. --Prof. Pine 16:01, 30 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I can explain that since I'm the one who removed it: this user tag autocategorizes. For example, if some puts {{User Country|Australia}} on their userpage, then he will automatically be categorized in the category Users from Australia. Now, we don't have a category called "Users from Europe" - because that's not a country, as you pointed out yourself. That causes the nonexistent category to appear on the Wanted Categories list, which isn't good. That's the story. --electAbuzzzz 17:11, 30 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ok, thx for the explanation! --Prof. Pine 10:48, 9 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Most Impressive!

I just want to say that the page of various country-related templates is very impressive. I enjoyed the obvious level of work put into getting everything right. Good job! - Nick15 03:35, 9 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

England

Why exactly is england a Bronzong? I mean of all things, Bronzong? Thermorules123 16:55, 15 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Also, why doesn't Wales have one? It's fairly easy to think of a Pokémon for it, Charizard to go with the red dragon on the flag Thermorules123 17:02, 15 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes that is odd, I would have thought England would be represented by a lion Pokemon (like in the coat of arms), or Yorterrie, the Yorkshire terrier. Norther Ireland also needs a template, as do the Crown Dependencies (Isle of Man, Jersey, and Guernsey), and all the Overseas Territories. XVuvuzela2010X 17:12, 15 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Is it OK to just add countries? XVuvuzela2010X 17:15, 15 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Dunno, but you're right with the lion, any ideas for a Pokémon? Thermorules123 17:18, 15 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well its a yellow lion in the Coat of arms, so a shiny Luxray could do. XVuvuzela2010X 17:23, 15 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I think it's Bronzong cause of Big Ben, for what its worth. --ZestyCactus 03:32, 16 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

An Idea for Tricolour Flags

For example, they could look like this;

They look much better in a userbox, which is where most users have their tags anyway;

Unused Countries

If a Country does not have a Bulbapedia user, should it be added? Or should we wait until a user from that country joins Bulbapedia? XVuvuzela2010X 16:41, 28 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Doesn't matter too much now, I made a page for them. XVuvuzela2010X 00:16, 1 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Egypt

The Pokémon for Egypt should be Cofagrigus. Ancient Egypt, you know. Wildgoose December 17, 2011 1:22 p. m. ET

Makes sense, and Shinx, Luxio or Luxray have absolutely no relation to the Sphinx anyway. If no-one opposes, it can be changed. Vuvuzela2010 Δ 18:32, 17 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Slovakia

Could someone please replace it with this one? Both the colours and Pokemon represent it better.

This user comes from Slovakia.

Tempest370 14:48, 16 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

The protection has been removed, so I've replaced the tag for Slovakia. However, the hidden note below it doesnt say what Pidgeot represents, can you add that? Cheers. XVuvuzela2010X 13:10, 17 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Done. --Tempest370 17:33, 17 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Tea and crumpets

I question for startes, why is the uk represented by Exacute? Then I will go on about bronzing for England, I see the connection with big Ben but is that our only symbol to the rest of the world?

What about Swanna, to represent our queen? Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 08:11, 11 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

I chose Exeggcute because it was the only thing I could think of that represents all of the uk (it's a multiple entity Pokemon, and it also represents Full English/Irish/Ulster/Scottish/Welsh breakfasts). And I don't think something representing the queen would be appropriate, since Scotland and Northern Ireland do have large republican populations. Not sure what else would represent England (I never chose Bronzong), Roserade could symbolise the Tudor rose? XVuvuzela2010X 18:13, 11 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
haha, Exeggcute for British breakfast, good one. I wasn't saying Bronzong was a bad idea, just thought it might make us look a bit boring, I like Roserade a lot, if ther're are any big Ben fanatics, speak now or forever hold your piece. I say we switch to Roserade :) Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 19:08, 11 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Sorry to intrude, but I know that UK's anthem is "God Save the Queen" and the UK is formed by a group of countries. The only Pokémon that represents a queen and is originated from a combined Pokémon would be Vespiquen. |) u |( e ® 21:30, 11 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
What about the "Keep Calm and Carry On" thing? We could use Slowking, since it wears a crown. If only there was a better way to represent the Union Jack...hm...Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 21:34, 11 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is usually represented by either an amazon parrot (Amazona vittata) or a coquí frog. There is no Pokémon resembling the parrot in question (the musical note on Chatot’s head is too distracting); as for the frog, the one that gets closer (but not a perfect match, due to coloring) is Froakie. So, here I present a prototype usertag: --SilSinn (TIDs: 768426S, 123446UM) (talk) 00:58, 28 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Saudi Arabia

I think saudi arabia should have Arceus instead of Exeggutor because the flag literally has the Islamic shahadah, in which the first part basically means there's only one god. Arceus is like "the creator of the pokemon world", so saudi arabia should have Arceus instead. grookeyscorbunnysobble 17:46, 9 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, no. Not gonna happen.--ForceFire 05:56, 10 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Edit suggestions

I have the following suggestions:

  • Azerbaijan should have the red and green swapped because green looks barely visible on blue.
  • Barbados's yellow and black should be swapped as well.
  • Bonaire's yellow and blue should be swapped as well.
  • Jordan's green and black should be swapped.
  • Kuwait's green and black should be swapped.
  • Lebanon's green and white should be swapped.
  • Vatican City's text should be dark grey, to represent the silver key on the flag.
