Release information
This card was released as a promotional card. In Japan, it came with the February 1997 issue of CoroCoro Comic, released in January 1997. It was later released again as a special card at the JR Stamp Rally. The English version of the card was released through Pokémon card leagues in June 2002.
Trivia
- A misprint was made on the English version of this card. Its Psyshock attack was printed as saying "Confused" where it should say "Paralyzed".
- Additionally, the "Pokémon Power: Neutral Shield" text on the English card is red, which was unusual for a Psychic-type card prior to the split of Pokémon Powers into Poké-Powers and Poké-Bodies. Typical Pokémon Powers on English Psychic-type cards are in blue, while some of their Japanese counterparts (including the Japanese version of this card) are in yellow.
- This card is commonly known as Glossy Mew or Lily Pad Mew, referring to its illustration. Despite the latter, Mew is actually on a rock.
Origin
Psyshock's Japanese name is that of Confusion, a move in the Pokémon games that Mew cannot learn.
