Route 33 is an east-west route in southern Johto. It is extremely short, and players need only to face one Trainer before arriving at Azalea Town. In Generation IV, it is always raining on this route.
Route description
The fifth route that Trainers from New Bark encounter, Route 33 is a first short route that travels west to Azalea Town. This route isn't meant to be a very long one, since Trainers have already traveled through Union Cave and passed Route 32 to reach this clearing. After exiting Union Cave through a small opening, the player will find a small clearing with a sign. After climbing down the stairs or jumping the ledge, the player can either go west, or find a patch of tall grass where Pokémon from previous routes seem to appear. By going western , the player will be able to find a berry tree of which a PSNCureBerry grows, as well as a single Trainer, a Hiker who is able to be battled. By continuing west, the player will finally reach Azalea Town, the next town on the Trainer quest.
In Generation IV, Route 33 is a little different from before. It is now always raining, and the effects of the rain are effective during battles. There is also two berry trees now in the place of the single tree, the right-hand tree holds a Black Apricorn, while the left-hand tree holds a Pink Apricorn.
