Route 35 lies just north of Goldenrod City, leading straight from there to Johto's famous National Park, home of the Bug Catching Contest. However, not all of the rare bugs are within the park, and the grass in the northeastern portion of the route is home to wild Yanma.
Route description
The route is a relatively short route, leading the player in an S-like curve, around a small body of water, and north to the southern entrance to the National Park. At the lookout station leading from Goldenrod, a guard named Webster will give the player a Spearow with Mail attached to deliver to his friend.

Trainer Tips
- Use Dig to return to the entrance of any place. It is convenient for exploring caves and other landmarks.
Trivia
- Picknicker Brooke's Japanese name is イクエ Ikue and her only Pokémon is Pikachu. This may be a reference to voice actress Ikue Ohtani who notably voices Ash's Pikachu in the anime.
- Upon defeat, Juggler Irwin exclaims, "Oops, dropped my balls!" This has become an infamous quote in the Pokémon fandom.
- This route was seen as one of the first pre-release pictures of Pokémon Gold and Silver. It depicts a simplified version of Route 35 and the National Park's southern entrance, except with water instead of trees and fences and no open path to the right.
