Ash's Corphish (Japanese: サトシのヘイガニ Satoshi's Heigani) was the third Pokémon caught by Ash during his travels through Hoenn, after Taillow and Treecko. Its voice actor in Japanese is 小西克幸 Katsuyuki Konishi, and its English voice actors are Maddie Blaustein (4Kids dub) and Bill Rogers (TPCi dub)
History
Ash caught Corphish in the episode Gone Corphishin'!. Ash and his friends were camping on a beach, and Corphish was attacking them from underneath the sand. Eventually its identity was revealed and Ash battled it and caught it.
Corphish has a rather quirky personality. It tends to get jealous of Ash's other Pokémon, and it enjoys being the center of attention. In Go Go Ludicolo!, it was worried that Ash's newly evolved Grovyle would get more attention from Ash because of its higher level. Like its trainer, it is headstrong and stubborn. One example was in Candid Camerupt!, where Max uses it to battle Vivi, but does not obey Max's commands of taking it easy on Vivi.
In many later matches, especially in the Ever Grande Conference, Corphish proved to be a powerful battler. Corphish was also the main comic relief of Ash's team when most of his Pokémon were evolved and more serious. Ash also used Corphish along with Swellow for the battle against Tucker. He also used it against Anabel.
It is revealed in Once in a Mawile that Corphish likes to dance along to Brock's song. Corphish later dances with Brock in Strategy Tomorrow, Comedy Tonight.
Ash left Corphish at Professor Oak's lab when he left for Sinnoh.
It will appear in DP182 alongside Ash's other Pokemon.
