Trivia
If and When Swinub evolves all the way (Mamoswine) I think it should be noted that it is the second Pokemon of hers that evolved by learning a move. The first was when Aipom learned double hit and evolved, which I'm sure they'll do with (Piloswine) and ancientpower. --Dman dustin 05:38, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Ok...it would have been noted anyway.
----HoennMaster 06:41, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, wait until it actually does so, undoubtedly sometime between here and Sunyshore. TTEchidna 08:15, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- It will also be the second Pokémon of the main characters that evolve by learning the move AncientPower, the first being Jessie's Yanmega.-Billy4b2004 11:17, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Take Down???
Swinub used Take Down? It looked more like Double-Edge if you ask me. Remember when Brock's Sudowoodo used Double-Edge, it was surrounded (or followed) by a yellow trail?
I'd say it's Double-Edge, not Take Down. Dilophosaurus Rex

help
This is the third time a main character captures a Pokémon to stop them from continuously eating food. First, Ash captured his Snorlax to stop it from eating all the grapefruit in a small island range in the Orange Islands, and second, May captures a Munchlax to take responsibility for its constant eating of trainer's Pokéblocks and berries. i want to add this to Dawn's Swinub trivia tell me how?Kikibabygirl28 20:45, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

- On the counter side, James's Mime Jr. already knows Mimic and still has yet to evolve into Mr. Mime. For all we know, this might be the episode Mime Jr. finally evolves. --Shiningpikablu252 16:15, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- James already has room for a Snover, if he gets one (I personally think Ash'll get Snover, sometime after Grotle's gone--if the Grass starter were meant to be Ash's signature for the fourth generation, they wouldn't have given him Chimchar in the first place unless he was to also get a Piplup--if Ash doesn't opt for a Tangela instead around Mt. Coronet). Even if we assumed James only has room for three, he's not full up (right now, his slots are Mime Jr., Carnivine, and empty; I have doubts that Cacnea's returning). And there's no guarantee that James'll get rid of Mr. Mime after it finishes evolving. --Shiningpikablu252 03:20, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

- Before I comment further, how often around here are pages sporadically moved by people that think a Pokémon is going to evolve? And when was the last time this happened and was wrong? (serious questions; I have no idea). — THE TROM — 08:42, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, no one has done anything like this in a long time. The pages are only protected in case something like this happen (which I seriously doubt). Jmath 09:27, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- Then why bother protecting if the precedent was years (possibly figurative years) ago? After all, this is just speculation. If someone does it before it's official, just chuck them a warning and move it back. If they persist, then follow up using standard anti-vandal protocol. It makes sense. — THE TROM — 09:18, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- Possibly saves them the work of doing all this. Anyway, protecting pages like this gets really annoying, since you can't fix anything on the page until the protection expires. Jmath 09:27, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- Which is probably necessary seeing as it just got half a rewrite. Admins reading this, don't protect plz. Just let it run its course and we'll see if anyone tries to make a stuffup. — THE TROM — 09:32, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- The opening can merely mean to be an error. A Pokémon site also have a magmar image with the name Magmortar, it could be the same for Piloswine. For all we know, not all the Pokémon who have learn the move required for evolution will evolve. Mime Jr. didn't evolve after the battle in the chingling ep so we can only assume that cases are different to every Pokémon. -Billy4b2004 15:33, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- There's a big difference between a fansite mislabeling a Pokemon and THE ANIME PUTTING THE WRONG POKEMON IN AN OPENING. In fact, I'd say that doubting the opening is itself speculation. And foolish speculation at that. I'm pretty sure the anime you know, pays people for that not to happen and have been doing this for 10 years to make sure mistakes like that don't happen. Silly me. I thought we agreed on the forums that reliable sources would be just as good to confirm evolutions as the episode's airing? And what more reliable source can you get than the freaking anime itself?! --Zeta 18:04, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- That's not a fansite, that is jetix! And I doubt that they are that lazy. If they are lazy, why didn't they keep it as a Swinub and change it to Mamoswine directly when it evolve? If they are lazy, why do they do it so early! They wouldn't do it until the last minute if they are lazy. I mean, why bother doing it so early if it is to be done later. This surely is a mistake! Why would they spoil the evolution? Can you give me any reason for this?-Billy4b2004 10:51, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Disobedience?
Is it showing any signs of disobedience like Serebii said it would? --ケンジのガール 03:39, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
Not yet, but the summary said they started in DP106. Although it does look like it will be that bad. At the beginning of DP105 Piloswine was quite affectionate with Dawn. --HoennMaster 03:45, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
Tusks
Piloswine's tusk size is consistent with that of a female. Should we put that in the infobox, or should we wait until it evolves to see Mamoswine's tusk size? These two have gender differences, although if it's anything like Ash's Staravia, some admin is going to say 'no' because no character officially said it -_- ~RR~ 21:54, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
How can we possibly say they look like a female's when we don't even have another one to compare it too? --HoennMaster 04:02, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
We do have other Mamoswine to compare it to. Remember the Mamoswines in Movie 11? Dilophosaurus Rex 12:11, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
Considering no site has a picture of those Mamoswine, we don't. --HoennMaster 14:01, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
Now we do. Serebii has the pictures of Movie 11, and the Mamoswine on those pictures have larger tusks than Dawn's Mamoswine. So it's female after all. Dilophosaurus Rex 11:43, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
Similarities to Misty Togetic
Swinub has some similarities to Misty Togepi . They were both the six pokemon obtained by their trainers and are both gen 2 pokemon. They both willingly went with their trainers without requiring their trainers to battle them. They also evolved in similar situations. They were both being badly beaten and refused to give up causing their trainers to worry about their safety. Togepi was being beaten by Hanson’s Ninjask and evolved, while Swinub was being beaten by team rocket’s Magikarp sub and evolved. Both were the second pokemon of each trainer to be seen evolving on screen. Both are gen 2 pokemon that have gen 4 evolutions. Voit
- Swinub was Dawn's fifth party member (Aipom counts as traded, not caught). Plus, Dawn didn't hold Swinub in her arms for 300 episodes and not let it do anything until that arc. TTEchidna 09:09, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
- I get what you are saying, but in Piloswines's article it was dawns sixth pokemon in all and togepi's article says that it was misty 's sixth pokemon in all. and both pokemon were badly beaten before evolving, and both trainers had the same reaction. Also both pokemon were the second pokemon of both trainers to be seen evolving on screenand are both gen 2 pokemon. I just thought it would make good trivia for Piloswine but if its inaccurate just let me know, because I don't want to mess anything up. Voit
why
did you change it to mamoswine already?Happizelpom 11:22, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
Not sure about the rule
I'm not sure what the rules are about it but I gave it a shot. Piloswine didn't evolve exactly after using Ancientpower, nor was it used right before evolving. I don't know if it's proper to say it evolved after using Ancientpower or not. But Piloswine evolved after being attacked by Team Rocket. Ancientpower just explains why it evolved not how it evolved.--Dman dustin 11:35, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
Similarity to Charizard?
Okay, I know it can't be just me, but this thing evolved after a while into its second form, which was a jerk, and very soon after into its third form, which is an even bigger jerk. Chance of Charizard's appearance during Movie 12 or before, in an Ashback? TTEchidna 19:26, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- In the episode it finally gets tamed in, which'll probably be around Sunyshore. Aura-Knight 00:14, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
- The similarity may be partially unintentional. It's obvious that the main characters' Pokémon are getting a lot more character development in DP than in the previous two series--it may just be that the writers were running short on Pokemon personality ideas and wanted to (whether consciously or otherwise) reuse the "evolves, then acts rebellious" archetype. Maybe they even wanted to purposely revisit that kind of scenario with their improved writing--a redux, of sorts. Also, from what's been said about Piloswine/Mamoswine, it seems that its personality isn't directly analogous to Charizard's; it has little self-control, but still acts affectionate towards Dawn, unlike Charizard who seemed bent on burning Ash to cinders. (Apologies if that's inaccurate, I actually haven't watched the anime past the beginning of Johto, but that doesn't mean I can't have opinions or speculate...right?) Lucentas 05:35, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Ice Beam rumor wrong
I saw the pictures here and swinub was using ice shard not ice beam, i think people were confused because there were many other pokemon using ice beam in the background. also at first you see buneary and swinub about to attack and the next pic you see an ice beam and some ice projectiles being shot. so can we delete ice beam? "Mamoswine is the fourth Pokémon in the Pokémon anime to evolve by knowing a certain move, following Brock's Sudowoodo, Dawn's Ambipom and Jessie's Yanmega, and is the second Pokémon of Dawn's to evolve by this method." I don't think this is true, there is also Angie's Lickitung who learned Rollout and evolved into Lickilicky. Bigtukker 17:06, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
- I guess we should of said "the fourth Pokémon belonging to a main character to evolve by this method." I mean, we really don't care about Angie. --ケンジのガール 18:57, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
- Not to mention that the Lickitung wasn't hers. She was raising it at her parent's daycare for someone else; therefore, it doesn't belong to her, and so wouldn't be a problem even if Angie is designated a main character. I think switching the wording would be ideal. --RiverAura 19:02, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
Mamoswine and Gliscor
"Mamoswine is similar to Ash's Gliscor in a couple of ways. Both of them were their Trainer's fifth capture in Sinnoh, and both are part of a Generation II evolution family and are both Ground types. They also sat out of exactly three Contests/Gym battles before finally participating." Is wrong, Gliscor was Ash's 4th capture in Sinnoh (after Starly, Turtwig and Chimchar). However this could be fixed just putting "...ther trainer's fourth capture..." as Swinub was actually the fourth of Dawn's captures too (after Buneary, Pachirisu and Buizel) because Piplup wasn't captured but given to her.
