Cianwood City (Japanese: ? Tanba City) is located in on the very western tip of Johto, apparently on a totally different landmass than the rest of the region. It's motto is "A Port Surrounded by Rough Seas!"

There's a Photo Studio where pictures of Pokémon can be taken (meant to work with the Game Boy Printer Perhiphral).
A popular legend in Olivine City are tales of Lugia and the Whirlpools he creates in the Whirl Islands.
The Cianwood City Pharmacy sells remedies exclusive to the town. Jasmine will ask that the main character of Generation II fetch her Ampharos some medicine from there.
A Pokémaniac on the island will give the main character of Pokémon Silver, Pokémon Gold, or Pokémon Crystal a Shuckle for safekeeping.
Chuck is the Gym Leader of Cianwood He specializes in Fighting-type Pokémon.
The only way in or out of Cianwood City is to Fly or travel through the sea to the east, Route 41.
