The Sanyou Gym (Japanese: サンヨウジム Sanyou Gym) is the official gym of Sanyou City. The Gym Leaders are Dent, Pod, and Corn, who specialize in Grass, Fire, and Template:Type2 Pokémon respectively. Trainers who defeat them receive the Tri Badge.

The Sanyou Gym is based on a butler cafe. Aside from the lobby, it consist of three different room that are behind three different curtains. On the floor are three circular panels on the floor. The first is a green panel with a leaf symbol, signifying Grass. The second is a red panel with a flame symbol, signifying Fire. The third is a blue panel with a rain droplet symbol, signifying Water. The player must step on the panel that has the type advantage of the symbol displayed on the curtain. The curtain will open if the right panel is stepped on.

Rewards

After Dent, Pod, or Corn is defeated, the player will be given the Tri Badge, TM83 (Cheer Up), and the ability to use Cut outside of battle.

Trivia

• While all other Gyms, aside from Viridian Gym in Generations II and IV, specialize in a specific type, the Sanyou Gym is the only one so far that specializes in several types.
• The Sanyou Gym is the first gym in the games to have a different Gym Leader depending on the starter the player picked.
  • It is also the first gym which will always have a type advantage over the players starter pokemon
• The Sanyou Gym is the first gym where the Trainers in the gym do not use the Gym Leader's specialty type.
