(Japanese: シママ Shimama) is an Template:Type2 Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

It evolves into Zeburaika starting at level 27.

Biology

Physiology

Shimama is a white-on-black zebra Pokémon, with thick, pointed white stripes on its neck, chest, back and hind legs. It has a large, rounded dark nose, and oval eyes with blue irises and yellow scleras. Shimama possesses a spiked white mane, culminating at the front in a lightning-bolt-esque pointed extension; Shimama also sports stubby, triangular dark ears with blue skin on the insides. Its hoofed legs are tipped with white, and its tail is stubby, white-colored and pointed.

Trivia

Shimama, along with its evolution, are the only non Template:Type2 and non-legendary Pokémon that learn Nitro Charge by level up.

Origin

Shimama seems to be based on a zebra. It also resembles one of the two zebra brothers from Hero: 108.

Name origin

Shimama is a corruption of the Japanese word シマウマ shimauma, meaning "zebra."
