Ambipom is a much larger and advanced form of Aipom. It has two tails, each with a large, rounded hand with three red-tipped fingers. These tails are much more versatile than Aipom's tail, and the tails also have a cuff of a rounded frill on the wrists. The bases of Ambipom's tails also have a similar frill. Unlike Aipom, Ambipom's feet are purple, not tan, and the insides of its ears are red. Ambipom has an arrangement of a split hair sticking out from the top of its head, replacing Aipom's spiky tuft. Ambipom has a purple, triangular nose that is much more visible than Aipom's, and much wider eyes.
Gender differences
The two strands of hair on top of Ambipom's head are longer on a female.
Special abilities
Ambipom can leap from tree to tree with brilliant speed. They also have solid Attack power and can use many devastating Template:Type2 moves.
Behavior
To eat, Ambipom deftly shucks nuts with its two tails. Now that it has two hands on its tails, it only rarely uses its arms. Ambipom work in large colonies and make rings by linking their tails, apparently in friendship.
Habitat
Ambipom live in large colonies in heavily wooded areas along with their young, Aipom.

In the manga
Gold's Aipom, Aibo, evolved into an Ambipom prior to his battle with the legendary Arceus. However, as the story moves back to a few weeks before the fight, it wasn't until several rounds later that its evolution was finally shown on-screen. This event, however, distressed Togebo, being the only Pokémon on his team that was in its basic stage.
Ambipom is the only Pokémon to have a base stat total of 482.
Out of all the Pokémon whose pre-evolved forms require a move to evolve, Ambipom's is the only one that needs to know Double Hit.
Ambipom and Linoone are the only evolved Pokémon that have Pickup.
Origin
It appears to have been based on a monkey, with an exaggerated concept of a prehensile tail.
Name origin
Its English name comes from a combination of the prefix Ambi, meaning both, and possibly the word palm. It could also come from ambidexterous, meaning being both right- and left-handed, and palm.
The Japanese name may contain 猿 en, monkey, 手 te, hand, and the English word both, referring to the hands on its tail. エテ ete can also be taken to mean monkey.
In other languages
German: Ambidiffel - a combination of ambidexter (ambidextrous) and Griffel (the German name for Aipom).
