Glare (Japanese: へびにらみ Snake Glare) is a non-damaging Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation I. Prior to Generation II, it was the signature move of the Ekans evolutionary line.

Effect

Generation I to IV

Glare paralyzes the target. Glare cannot paralyze the target if it already has a major status ailment.

In Stadium, Glare cannot affect a target that has a Substitute.

Generation V

The Accuracy of Glare is increased from 75 to 90.

Trivia

• Generation IV is the only generation to not introduce a new Pokémon that can learn Glare. Ekans and Arbok were introduced in Generation I, Dunsparce was introduced in Generation II, Seviper was introduced in Generation III and Snivy and Druddigon were introduced in Generation V.
• All the Pokémon that know Glare are snake, dragon or lizard-based.
  • Additionally, all the Pokémon that know Glare are in the Ground or in the Dragon Egg Group.
• Glare's English name is the same as the Japanese name of the move Leer.
