Patrat (Japanese: ミネズミ Minezumi) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon introduced in Generation V.
It evolves into Watchog starting at level 20.
Biology
Physiology
Patrat is a rodent-like Pokémon that resembles a chipmunk. It is mostly brown with a tan stomach and face. Its tail is long and straight with a scruffy white tip. It has a large pointed tooth that sticks out of its mouth. Patrat has a flat face, and its cheeks are very round. Its ears are small and pointed. Its head has a black band that covers the eyes, which have red irises with a yellow ring, and black pupils. Its feet are small and black, with three toes.

Special abilities
Behavior
Patrat are very conscious and wary regarding its surroundings and are always on guard. If they sense an impending danger, it signals its companions using its tail.
Habitat
Groups of Patrat live on treetops. In BW018, Patrat are also shown to live in tunnels in the ground.

A group of Patrat appeared in In The Shadow of Zekrom!. Multiple Patrat also appeared in Enter Iris and Axew!.
Major appearances
Minor appearances
Multiple Patrat made a brief cameo in A Sandile Gusher of Change! with multiple Pidove and Deerling where they needed help from Ash and his friends.
One appeared to be owned by a Trainer in The Battle Club and Tepig's Choice! where it was seen on the Battle Club computer screen.
Another Patrat made a brief cameo in Triple Leaders, Team Threats! in Striaton City and in Dreams by the Yard Full! with a Pokémon Trainer in a Pokémon Center.
A Trainer's Patrat made a brief appearance in A Rival Battle for Club Champ! on a computer screen in the Luxuria Town Battle Club.
A pair of Patrat made a minor appearance in BW018 where Burgh was able to heal a sick one. In BW019 multiple Trainers's Patrat were seen at a Poké Mart. In BW025 a Trainer was seen with a Patrat outside the Castelia Gym.

- In each region, there is a two-stage Template:Type2 Pokémon encountered early in the region. Patrat is the Unova variation on this theme, while Rattata, Sentret, Zigzagoon, and Bidoof are those of other regions.
- Patrat is the only Pokémon that has a base stat total of 255.
- It also has the lowest base stat of all the Generation V Pokémon.
Origin
It appears to be based on a prairie dog, chipmunk or meerkat.
Name origin
Patrat is a combination of the words patrol and rat. It may also be a pun on pack rats. Minezumi is derived from 見 mi, looking, and either 木鼠 kinezumi, squirrel, or 鼠 nezumi, mouse.
