Palkia (Japanese: パルキア Palkia) is a Water/Dragon-type Legendary Pokémon.

Palkia is the version mascot of Pokémon Pearl, appearing on the boxart.

Biology

Physiology

Palkia looks less dinosaur-like than Dialga, as it it upright and possesses wings, although it does not possess the ability to fly. It has plates on its shoulder area, where two pink pearls reside. Palkia has a long neck and a powerful tail.

Gender differences

Palkia is genderless.

Special abilities

Palkia has the ability to warp space.

Although it is not an ability, it should be noted that, because of Palkia's type, its only weakness is the dragon type.

Legends say that it lives "in the gaps of space which are aligned in parallel."

In the anime

Palkia makes an appearance in the tenth Pokémon Movie along with Dialga and Darkrai, although its role in the movie is yet to be revealed.

  • Palkia's US name was revealed, along with Dialga's, on 20th January 2007.

The Pal (Paru) in its name is derived from the Japanese word for pearl, パール pāru.
