Skitty (Japanese: エネコ Eneco) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.

It evolves into Delcatty when exposed to a Moon Stone.

Biology

Physiology

Skitty are pink feline Pokémon with a stumpy body, big head, and a slender tail with a bulky pink section. The section includes three pin-like appendiges with cream-colored heads that resemble the toes of a cat's paw. The four limbs are extremely stubby and short. On Skitty's face is what resembles a lopsided crescent moon marking that is cream in color. This all adds to an image of cuteness. They have slit-like eyes and ears with purple insides and three tufts of fur at the tips.

Special abilities

Skitty, along with Glameow, Purrloin, and their evolutions, is able to wield the Assist attack, which allows Skitty to use a random attack that's known by any other Pokémon on its trainer's team. Unlike other cat-like Pokémon like Meowth or Glameow, Skitty doesn't scratch or bite and instead slaps with its tail, which allows Skitty to pull off a relatively powerful DoubleSlap or Wake-Up Slap. Like most Template:Type2 Pokémon, Skitty can learn many elemental attacks.

Skitty, along with its evolution, are the only Pokémon to have the Normalize ability.

Behavior

Skitty are fascinated by and will chase anything that moves (a personality trait that is found in "real-world" kittens). Skitty will even chase its own tail. It may also make its tail puff out in battle, along with threatening its foes with a sharp growl. It is said to be difficult to earn its trust.

A Skitty appeared in The Ribbon Cup Caper at the ship’s Pokémon Center.

Battle Pike Queen Lucy had a pet Skitty in Queen of the Serpentine.

A Skitty also appeared in Journey to the Unown!.

A Skitty appeared in Meowth's fantasy in Noodles: Roamin' Off.

Coco was one of Ruby's first Pokémon along with Nana, and Ruru. She is used in the Cute category of Pokémon Contest's and like the rest of his Pokémon, is a really powerful battler. She evolved into a Delcatty after accidentally being exposed to a Moon Stone on Steven Stone's belt.

Trivia

• It is part of the Field Egg Group, which has caused the Hot Skitty on Wailord Action joke.
• The cream-colored section of Skitty's face is shaped like a crescent moon, which may be related to the fact that Skitty evolves using a Moon Stone.
• Prior to Platinum, a Skitty with Normalize could not directly damage a Ghost-type Pokémon. It now can, however, by learning Foresight.
• The Fluffy Tail, an item that allows escape from battle in the same way that a Poké Doll does, resembles Skitty's tail. It was likely introduced because Clefairy cannot be found in Hoenn.

Skitty is based on a kitten with its tail resembling foxtail grass.

Name origin

Skitty's name is a combination of skittish and kitty.

Eneco refers to 狗尾草 enokorogusa, foxtail grass, a type of plant that Skitty's tail resembles, and 猫 neko, cat.
