Gligar is a small, purple, bat-like Pokémon. It has blue wings, which are similar in function to a flying squirrel's, and have pointed claws at the edges of the membranes. Gligar has pincers on its forelegs, and a segmented, insectoid tail with a stinger on the end. Gligar has short hind legs, and feet that appear segmented with a large, single claw each. Additionally, Gligar has long, pointed ears and triangle-shaped eyes, fangs and a large tongue which is often seen out of its mouth. Gligar could be considered a cousin of Skorupi due to its scorpion-like traits; however, it shares some bat-like traits as well, making it similar to Zubat. There is confusion whether the claws on a Gligar's wings and feet are white or purple, since the artwork has differed this way between and even during generations. However, the official artwork from Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver depicts Gligar with purple claws, the same purple as its body.
Also, Gligar and its evolved form Gliscor are two out of three Pokémon that are both Flying and Ground, which gives them an immunity to both Template:Type2 and Ground moves. This trait is shared only with Vibrava, Flygon, Baltoy, and Claydol due to the Levitateability, and Landorus, who has the same type combination.
Flying straight at the foe’s face, it startles them by clamping on with its clawed hind legs and the pincers on its forelegs, before jabbing with its poison stinger. Gligar also tend to ambush prey as it passes by below. When it is done gliding, it hops along the ground back to its nest.
Gligar, the FlyScorpion Pokémon. It glides using the membrane attatched to its arms and legs, and attacks the base of its prey with its claws.

A Gligar appeared in Volume 9 that stole Gold's Togepiegg. With its Poison Sting, it felled both Aibo and Polibo, then a Poliwag, before being caught by Sudobo, Gold's Sudowoodo, and then attacked by Exbo, and Gold's Sunkern, Sunbo, as it tried to escape. It was then beaten by the newly hatched Togepi it tried to eat, waking Gold in the process.
Gligar glides through the air without a sound as if it were sliding. This Pokémon hangs on to the face of its foe using its clawed hind legs and the large pincers on its forelegs, then injects the prey with its poison barb.
Gligar can be seen as a parallel to Sneasel. Both of them are dual-typed and have the same base stats total, as well as their respective fully-evolvedform that introduced in the same generation. They can be evolved by leveling up at night while holding the respective evolutionary held items with the sharedname "Razor".
