Synopsis

While on the way to Daybreak Town, Ash and friends seem to be completely lost, so Ash sends out Gliscor in order to check out the surrounding area. Along the way, they see a battle between a Chimecho and a Scizor. After the battle is over, they are introduced to the Air Battle Master, McCann, and his granddaughter. The Scizor turned out to be McCann's and was helping the Chimecho train. After hearing about McCann's strength and skill as an air battle master, Ash decides to have an air battle with him: Scizor vs Gliscor. Ash wanted to test Gliscor's flying abilities and fought a one-on-one battle against Scizor. After a short battle, Scizor was victorious, with Gliscor feeling terrible and ashamed. Then, McCann gives Ash some advice about how to "read" the wind. As the day went on, Gliscor was feeling bad; refusing to eat and not wanting to get into its poke ball. That night, Gliscor goes out to do some late training and trying to read the wind. Ash also couldn't sleep feeling bad about his loss. So Ash leaves the house and finds Gliscor training and trying to overcome the recent loss. Ash decides to help train Gliscor over the night. Ash has Staraptor fly around with a ribbon tied to it so Gliscor can follow the wind pattern and how Staraptor flies. Dawn wakes up and comes to help Ash train by giving him some shredded tin foil. SHe explains that if you throw it in the wind, they can see the wind's direction and help Gliscor glide much better. So they release it into the wind. The tin foil pieces blow with the wind so Gliscor can see what direction the wind is going and follow it. While training, Gliscor has a little run-in with Team Rocket and explains to them that its training so that it can defeat McCann's Scizor in a rematch tomorrow. Team Rocket is then moved by Gliscor's spirit, however, they crash into a mountain-side and Gliscor then continues to train. The next morning, Ash informs McCann that they have been training all night, trying to read the wind and challenges him to another air-battle and McCann reluctantly accepts, believing that Ash's Gliscor has improved enough. The battle begins and McCann sees great improvement in Gliscor as it was able to land a couple of Fire Fangs on Scizor and showing how to use Sand-Attack in a different variation. During the battle, Scizor landed many hits on Gliscor but this time, Gliscor seemed to be gaining the upper hand. Towards the end of an epic battle when things started to get shaky, Ash tells Gliscor to dig deep and encourages it to never give up. With that in mind, Gliscor begins to charge towards Scizor, and uses Giga Impact, revealing to have learned a new move. After an intense shot from Scizor's Hyper Beam, Gliscor plummets to the ground, losing for a second time. Ash come to Gliscor revealing that even though they lost, he has really improved and learned a new move doing it. McCann sees Gliscor's potential and suggests Ash to leave Gliscor to stay and train. McCann includes how it was like the day that he first met his Scizor, so Ash leaves the decision to Gliscor, and it accepts and Ash does as well. Ash give McCann Gliscor's poke ball and says good-bye to the Fang Scorp Pokemon. In the distance, you can see that Team Rocket is there feeling sad to see Gliscor leave. Despite his friendship with Ash and his desire to help Ash on his adventures, Gliscor stayed with McCann.
