Feraligatr (Japanese: オーダイル Ordile) is a Water-type Pokémon.
Biology
Physiology
Feraligatr are big, bulky Pokémon, more used to swimming than walking on land. When they do, they try to crawl all fours in order to move faster. However, when they are hunting or fighting, they are surprisingly agile and fast. The fact that Feraligatr are cold-blooded Pokémon means that they need to be where they can adjust their body temperatures accordingly. Feraligatr have large, powerful jaws which are able to cause heavy damage.
Gender differences
None noticeable.
Special abilities
When one of your Pokémon are bitten by a Feraligatr, don't expect it to let go, because Feraligatr jaws, like its pre-evolutions, lock in place and, again, can cause heavy damage because of this in combination with their sheer muscle power.
Behavior
Feraligatr are notoriosly territorial, coming together only to breed. Every spring, swamps and marshlands resound with the rumbling mating calls produced by male Feraligatr looking for females. If there is dispute between two males, the two will enter into a contest of roaring and bearing their fangs, hoping to make the other back down. Upon mating, the male aids the female in building a nest out of leaves and other vegetation. As the plants rot, they produce heat to help incubate the eggs. The mother jealosly guards the nest from anything that comes near, not even leaving to find food. Instead, she lives off of fat reserves stored up before the mating season began. Once the eggs hatch, she leads the newborn Totodiles down to the water. Feraligatrs are very good mothers and watch over their young until the babies are large enough to look after themselves.
Habitat
Feraligatr live near large bodies of water, where they can count on prey coming to drink.
Diet
Main article: Pokémon food
Feraligatr are card-carrying carnivores. Their prefered hunting method is to hide underwater with only eyes and nostrils above the surface, waiting for prey to come to the water's edge. They attack with a sudden burst of speed and clamp their powerful jaws down on a surprised victim before it has time to react. Once the Feraligatr bites it will lock its jaws, and the prey will be secured. Then the Feraligatr will violently shake its head and begin to tear off chunks of its prey to swallow.
In the anime
Ash's Snorlax battled against a Feraligatr in a Sumo Contest in The Ring Masters.
Misty battled a Feraligatr during the Whirl Cup in The Perfect Match.
A Feraligatr was also owned by Kinso in The Blue Badge of Courage.
In the manga
In Pokémon Special, Silver's Croconaw evolved into Feraligatr to protect Gold, Crystal, and himself from Lugia.
In the TCG
There is, apparently, a rare Feraligatr card that is lightning-type, with lightning type attacks. Its weakness is still lightning, creating some confusion among young owners of this card.
In the TFG
One Feraligatr figure has been released.

Trivia
- On a height basis, Feraligatr is the tallest final form of a starter Pokémon standing at an amazing 7 feet and 7 inches (2.3 meters).
Origin
Like Totodile and Croconaw, Feraligatr is a crocodylian. Appearance-wise, it's an alligator.
Name origin
Feraligatr draws its name from a combination of feral and alligator, whereas the dile in its Japanese name is a reference to crocodiles. The German name Impergator is a combination of imperial and alligator. The lack of a vowel between the T and R is due to the ten character limit on Pokémon names that also affects Victreebel.
