Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Much like Hoppip, Skiploom needs a gust of wind to get itself airborne. It flies using its flower as a propeller. The bloom on top of its head open and closes as the temperature fluctuates up and down and its flower blossoms when the temperature rises above 64°F. Because of this it is sometimes used as a thermometer.
Behavior
Skiploom spreads its petals to absorb as much sunlight as possible. It also floats in the air to try to get closer to the sun. When it rains, this Pokémon closes its flower and immediately hides under the shade of a tree to avoid getting wet.
Skiploom float in the sky to soak up as much sunlight as they can, and, like their other evolutionary forms, float freely over grasslands and open countryside.
In Volume 13, Erika is seen with a Skiploom. She uses it to fight Pryce and his Swinub in the opening ceremony of the Indigo League, but falls easily due to the type disadvantage and the old man's incredible skill.
Skiploom's flower blossoms when the temperature rises above 64 degrees F. How much the flower opens depends on the temperature. For that reason, this Pokémon is sometimes used as a thermometer.
It blossoms when the temperature rises above 64 degrees F. Because its flower's blooming changes with the temperature, it is sometimes used as a thermometer.
Skiploom's normal color and Shiny color is reverse to its pre-evolution, Hoppip.
Skiploom was the last Pokémon to be announced in the Pokérap GS
Origin
Skiploom appears to be based on a bulb and a flower, specifically that of a dandelion.
Name origin
Skiploom is a combination of skip and bloom. It may also derive from loom (an instrument used in weaving) or a corruption of plume or plumose (possessing filaments or branches that give a feathery look). The names of all stages of its evolutionary line are based on the phrase, "Just a hop, skip, and a jump away."
Popocco is a combination of 蒲公英 tanpopo (dandelion) and 根っ子 nekko (root).
