While Gligar was unable to learn Earthquake by TM until Generation III, a Gligar that did know Earthquake was a reward in Pokémon Stadium 2 for beating the rival in Round 2.

It shares physical traits with flying squirrels, gargoyles, and scorpions.

Name origin

Gligar's name is a combination of glide and gargoyle. Gligar's French name is a combination of scorpion and plane.
