Explain further how pokémons are spawned
I think that how the pokémons are spawned needs a little bit more explanation. When walking in tall grass (or any other area where a pokémon can spawn), what decides when a pokémon and which pokémon will spawn? I doubt that the formula provided on the page does it all. -- Stoo 04:06, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- I know the previous post was a LONG time ago, but no one responded so I wanted to add to it. I don't buy it lol. Having a formula makes it look all professional and convincing but it is obviously wrong. In Pokemon FireRed you get an encounter about 1/15 of the time you step on a tall grass tile and in Black and White it is like 1/3 or 1/5 on the high end. Obviously they don't all use the same formula. Additionally, if you run away from a fight then you will get another encounter sooner. I know some people say this is a self fulfilling prophecy and not reality but it is, test it. It also SEEMS LIKE you get encounters sooner when riding a bike. Basically I am just saying that simple formula doesn't encompass accurate encounter rates given the different ways it can be effected. Degrelecence (talk) 20:20, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- CORRECTION: I tested the bike thing and riding your bike through tall grass DEFINITELY makes you get more encounters (not time wise, number of 'steps' wise). Degrelecence (talk) 17:22, 7 July 2013 (UTC)

Long Grass
Shouldn't be mentioned that there is Long Grass at the National Park in Pkmn HG/SS? Alexjuuhh 13:42, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
Snow
Would it be a good idea to make a page for snow tiles too? Hayarotle 19,38, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
Double Battles in Gen V
There's currently no mention of the longer grass in Black and White where you can encounter wild Pokémon in double battles, similar to the way in which Pokémon are encountered when travelling with someone in Generation IV. An example of this grass is Unova Route 3. ----Valkyria (Talk) 02:19, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
- Can you list all the routes that it appears on? You can probably add a section to the article about it anyway, but there should be a list. --SnorlaxMonster 03:19, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
Shaky patches
How exaclty do they appear? Grhaal 13:07, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
- What triggers these shaking spots? do you have to be in the grass and then eventualy it will shake? do you have to be walking? walking in the grass? I'd love to know —Mada-sama (Talk to me!)— 14:01, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
Double battles in long grass
"In Generation V, there is a chance of encountering two wild Pokémon at a time, who will be engaged in a double battle." Wtf? In long grass there is NO chance of a double battle, which can only occur in dark grass. Some time ago I deleted this thing from the page, but here it is again... why do you keep adding it? Shepeedy 19:41, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, I'll remove it again; maybe getting into an edit war is the only way to bring it to the surface. Shepeedy 16:47, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
- I have encountered wild double battles in tall grass before. However, now I'm starting to think that there is actually dark tall grass, which is where you can have these double battles. From recent experience, I have had double battles in the dark grass to the southeast. --SnorlaxMonster 15:29, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- You're right, there are two types of long grass (normal and dark): I edited the article accordingly, go and check my grammar. Shepeedy 17:56, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

How grass tiles in Generation I and II are erased
Game maps are organized into larger map tiles each composed of 2x2 walkable/wall tiles; the game clears these map tiles rather than the individual walkable tiles when Cut is used on them. Here's a video showing this behavior: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I89JYpsnHIk
In Generation III, the tiles maps are organized into are the same size as the walkable tiles, so the game is able to clear grass tiles more selectively. Just wanted to make that clear. Mugendai 06:58, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
B2W2 Tall Grass
I've noticed that the tall grass in Black 2 and White 2 is different from Black and White. This maybe also true for the dark tall grass, long grass, dark long grass, and rustling grass. Please add them to the article. →AwesomeDJPokémon 11:41, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Summer and spring long grass
Are they really identical? Both normal and dark variant? Marked +-+-+ (talk) 15:18, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
- Don't think so. Long grass takes on a darker shade of green in summer, similar to that of dark grass(but not the same shade).Auraguardian197 16:09, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
