Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Octillery is the leader of Team Constrictor, a Silver Rank rescue team. It joins a new team with Blastoise and Golem designed to travel through Magma Cavern, but is defeated.

Not counting Hidden Power and Natural Gift or Mew, Smeargle, and Arceus, Octillery can learn damaging attacks of twelve of the seventeen types, more than any other Pokémon. (It can't learn any Fighting, Ground, Flying, Ghost, or Dragon-type attacks.) This makes Octillery a very versatile and useful Pokémon in competitive battling.
