May's Venusaur
Bulbasaur (Japanese: フシギダネ Fushigidane) was the fourth Pokémon caught by May during her travels through Hoenn. It was captured along the way to Fortree City in a place known as the Forbidden Forest.
Bulbasaur made its debut in Grass Hysteria, although it had been featured in the opening for a short while before that.
May was kidnapped by a hungry Skarmory and ended up lost in a place called the Forbidden Forest, a preserve for Grass-type Pokémon. There, she met a clumsy Bulbasaur trying to pick flowers. Bulbasaur warmed up to May after she saved the little Grass-type from a fall.
The other Grass-type Pokémon acted very hostile, though, and repeatedly tried to attack May. However, Bulbasaur explained Venusaur, the ruler of the Forbidden Forest that May was a friend.
Before May had to leave, Bulbasaur decided to stay with her.
May's Bulbasaur is distinctive from Ash's Bulbasaur in that it has a gentler personality and a pair of heart-shaped spots on its forehead. It is fond of flowers.
