A Hondew Berry (Japanese: ロメのみ Rome Fruit) is a type of Berry introduced in Generation III.

Locations

Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald Four Hondew Berries can be found on Route 119 when the player first arrives there (Waterfall required). Sometimes given by the Berry Master. Sometimes given by Kiri in Sootopolis City.

Generation III

A Hondew Berry will mature from a planted seed to a full-grown, fruit-bearing tree in 12 hours, with 3 hours per stage. A Hondew tree will yield 2-6 Berries.

Generation IV

A Hondew Berry will mature from a planted seed to a full-grown, fruit-bearing tree in 32 hours, with 8 hours per stage. A Hondew tree will yield 1-5 Berries.

Generation VI

A Hondew Berry will mature from a planted seed to a full-grown, fruit-bearing tree in 48 hours, with 8 hours per stage. A Hondew tree will yield 1-20 Berries. During its growth, watering the plant will add 0.5 Berries to the final harvest, weeding it will add 1.5, and removing a pest will add 3.

Poffin Cooking

At 100% performance, a Hondew Berry can produce a Level 12 (maybe higher) Dry-Bitter Poffin when cooking alone.

Used on a Pokemon

Using this berry on a pokemon outside of battle increases it's friendliness, however, it will lower it's Special Attack Effort values by ten points. If this side effect would lower the effort value of the affected stat below zero, it sets that stat's effort values to zero. Individual values are not changed.

Giving this berry to a pokemon during battle or to hold during battle has no useful effect.

In Sneaky Like Shedinja II, Hondew Berries were some of the Berries that Emerald's Sceptile sliced with Leaf Blade for its Trainer to eat.

In The Final Dimensional Duel VII, Jupiter used a Hondew Berry to turn her Tangrowth's Natural Gift into a Ground-type move while battling against Marley's Arcanine.
