The Expedition Society has a base in Lively Town. They go on missions with the aim of completing the Pokémon Nexus, while investigating incidents and helping other Pokémon. The Expedition Society consists of the player, their partner, Ampharos, Mawile, Jirachi, Buizel, Archen, Dedenne, Bunnelby, and Swirlix.

Personalities and characteristics

• Ampharos is the chief of the Expedition Society. He is prone to getting lost and is very careless when traveling. Ampharos is also laid-back. He calls himself the "Dashing Wanderer".
• Mawile is the archaeologist. She spends her time studying the history of the world.
• Jirachi was born in Star Cave. He is a self-proclaimed genius capable of fixing the Pokémon Nexus. He sleeps most of the time. Jirachi sometimes attacks others in his sleep unwittingly.
• Buizel is the marine explorer. He is brave, but reckless.
• Archen is the aerial explorer, despite his inability to fly.
• Dedenne transmits signals between Exploration Society members.
• Bunnelby is the on-foot and underground explorer.
• Swirlix is the steward and a glutton, so she eats much of the food she makes.
