Template
We need a template for this, somebody. or somebody needs to teach me how to make one.
- To make a template, create it in the Template: namespace (something like Template:mytemplate, then you could use it via {{mytemplate}}). — Jellochuu¾ 01:50, 22 Feb 2005 (UTC)
I know that, but like. i'm talking about the actual template itself, what we want/need in it. Evkl 01:55, 22 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Okay, I did it. You can see it at Template:movestats; I know, it's ugly, feel free to mess with it. — Jellochuu¾ 02:18, 22 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Raichu?
Do you specifically have to breed 2 Pikachu to get a Pichu with Volt Tackle, or can either the male or female be Raichu? --Fsilone 04:50, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
- If you've got a female Pikachu or Raichu holding the Light Ball, you're cool. If you're breeding a male of them with a Ditto, though, the Pikachu/Raichu has to hold the Light Ball. TTEchidnaGSDS! 05:01, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
- Cool. Thanks. --Fsilone 04:38, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
Japanese attacks
As with Pokémon themselves, the Japanese names for these attacks should be printed somewhere... would it be best in the article itself or as an extension to the infobox? Hyperworm 19:37, 22 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Something Really Weird
Ok, something weird just happened in my game. I have an AR DS, and I used a glitch that lets you turn TM 17 into any move by tossing out heart scales, so I got Volt Tackle. Now, here's the weird part. The cheat lets you get any move, but it does NOT modify movesets (ex. Empoleon can't use a Fire-type attack). So, the movesets stay the same, which is REALLY important here. I booted up the modified TM, (which seems weird since I don't have a Pikachu) and it said CANNOT LEARN for everyone in my party except my Electivire! This means that, somewhere in the game's code, Electivire was programmed as able to learn Volt Tackle! It's weird, but true. Therefore, I'm adding it to the page, but with "Method Unknown". If someone feels this is inappropriate, please state why here, then delete it, but I'm putting it on. User:Ph34rshallriseagain
- ARs screw up your game. That's why. XD; But.. if it's in the game's code... hmm. Tina δ♫ 00:22, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I had my game examined, and apparently it's actually in the game's code. Also, like I said, the movesets weren't disrupted. Otherwise, my Dialga would've learned Flare Blitz... User:Ph34rshallriseagain
Yes it can, so can Electabuzz. User:Ph34rshallriseagain
I don't know about Raichu, but I can check if you want. User:Ph34rshallriseagain
Maybe a trade from platinum/nintendo event? Atomix26 16:52, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Speaking of this... all the odd Pokémon are in the Humanshape Egg Group, meaning that they can all interbreed. What someone should do is hack an Electabuzz with Volt Tackle, then breed it with a Machamp, and see if the baby Machop hatches with Volt Tackle... TTEchidna 18:13, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- I removed these all since i cant find any proof that this exsits. It isnt an egg move, it isnt a level move, ergo, it is not listed. Speaking of unprovable, where is the proof of that Combusken with Crush Grip? The Placebo Effect 01:58, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- I know try to bring it in platinum with a ♀infernape then use the ♀infernape with ditto to get a ♂Infernape with VT and spread from there.(I would but I havnt gotten it yet) Atomix26 21:37, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Oh and MAGNEDETH READ THE TOP OF THE ARTICLE more specificly the part on EMPOLENON. Atomix26 21:39, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
breeding
If I breed a Pikachu that already knows Volt Tackle will it pass it on to its offspring without the light ball.
And does it have to be a female that holds it when its 2 of the pika family as a male can hold it when bread with ditto.
- Unlucky you, actually, I just bred a Pikachu with Volt Tackle with a Raichu... but it was holding a Light Ball.
- And if the male isn't non-Pikachu family, then either can hold it. It's like the incenses. TTEchidna 19:27, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Or...
You could use SMEARGLE to get it into other species. Atomix26 02:50, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- But it isn't programed for them to learn it. The Dark Fiddler - Smarter than the average bear! 02:51, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Name
Why is the japanese name "Volteccer"? I've heard in the japanese episodes Ash calls it "Voltekka" (like it was written somewhere in the article before, but was erased I don't know why!). Why, or where does "Volteccer" come from? Also, Voltekka sounds a lot similar to "Voltackle" YukitoOoO 18:45, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

- Where does the spelling "Volteccer" come from? Pulseman itself has "Voltteccer" written in English in the options menu, with two Ts. --Evice 01:39, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
um..
the new image doesn't move. it just shows pikachu and ponyta--Darknesslover5000 03:37, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
- What browser are you using? It works fine in Firefox.--GreenGyaradosHappy Holidays! 03:38, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
- Animated PNGs are a relatively new filetype. Very few browsers support the animation, and they're usually not standards-compliant. If it weren't for the fact that a still image is shown for browsers that don't support the animation, there probably would have been a lot more people opposed to having them introduced on Bulbapedia...--Shiningpikablu252 04:54, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Gamestop Mystery Gift
Gamestop's mystery gift (available January 30th – February 14th) is a level 30 male Pichu that knows Volt Tackle and holds an everstone.--HisOmniscience 22:06, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
Ash's Pikachu
Did not learn Volt Tackle via a game legit method.. Should this be included in the Trivia? - unsigned comment from JasonTongRulz (talk • contribs)
Volt Tackle Pikachu from Yellow Forest
Should the Pikachu knowing Volt Tackle (coming from the Yellow Forest event route) be added to the Special Learnset list (since it is related to an event, and is the only way to obtain a Pikachu in the wild with the move)? - unsigned comment from Rt117 (talk • contribs)
- Yep done. —darklordtrom 03:22, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
New Image
Should this image can put instead of this one ? -Caciulacdlac
Main Image
A new header image is needed as well. The image (unless my laptop is not showing it) does not show anything related to the move; merely a Pikachu and a Ponyta. On top of that, an english version update might be a good idea.--Black Yin Zekrom 06:18, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
- The image is actually a mini-video showing the animation of the move. What browser are you using on your laptop? If you're using IE, try Firefox. --PhantomJunkie 06:24, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
Ah, that would explain that, but not why only certain ones work. Still, english language update might be a good idea.--Black Yin Zekrom 06:26, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
- I think with images like that, quality is preferred over language; it will only be changed if an equal or better English rip of the animation can be provided. --PhantomJunkie 06:27, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
can someone add this?
The user electrifies itself, then charges at the foe. It causes considerable damage to the user as well. | |||

kinda can't edit it right now...(and in case you're wondering, they all used it at the EXACT same time so it counts) Ataro 21:58, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
Gen V learnsets
Is it the same as Gen IV? Flicky1991 21:51, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
Breeding Section
"...breeding a female Pikachu or Raichu holding a Light Ball with any Pokémon in the same egg group (or breed a Pikachu or Raichu of any gender holding a Light Ball with a Ditto)..."
It seems that if you breed two 'chus together, then either gender can hold the Light Ball. In Gen IV (Diamond) I breed a male Pikachu w/ Light Ball and a female Pikachu and the resulting Pichu had Volt Tackle. The above method with Ditto would work because the Ditto would count as a Pikachu. Anyone else able to confirm this as well (especially in later Gen IV games and Gen V)? Paralysis chance, added?
This page says that Volt Tackle has (and has always had) a chance to paralyze the target... However, data from a Ruby ROM suggests that Double-Edge and Volt Tackle have the exact same effect, and Double-Edge certainly shouldn't have any possibility of paralyzing the target. Volt Tackle's in-game descriptions also do not mention paralysis until Gen V.
Is it actually possible for Volt Tackle to paralyze the target in Gen III and Gen IV? Tiddlywinks (talk) 07:40, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
Aside from A Thousand ____s none of those are signature moves, Pumpkinking.
Just want to point that out, since I still can't edit trivia. As for A Thousand ___s, we still don't know how it'll learn them yet. Unowninator (talk) 18:23, 12 June 2016 (UTC)
- That's irrelevant. The trivium said nothing about signature moves. It merely said this is the only move that cannot be learned by normal in-game methods, and since this is not the case (and never was, considering Struggle should not have been excluded), it does not deserve to be on the page anymore. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 19:05, 12 June 2016 (UTC)
- Oh, for some reason I thought it said signature moves. -_- Unowninator (talk) 19:52, 12 June 2016 (UTC)
