Casey (Japanese: ナナコ Nanako) is a nominally recurring trainer in the Pokémon anime. Her English name, a reference to the poem "Casey at the Bat", means "brave", and her Japanese name can be taken to mean "seventh child" (七子), although usually only male children are numbered. Her Japanese seiyū is 熊谷ニーナ Nīna Kumagaya and her English voice actress is Kerry Williams.
She and her family are fans of the Electabuzz baseball team, and she loves Pokémon with the team's colors, yellow with black stripes. She started with a Chikorita, which she received from Professor Elm of New Bark Town.
In the original Japanese version, Casey speaks with a Kansai dialect, which would suggest that she is from the Pokémon world's equivalent of Osaka, Goldenrod City. Adding to this is Casey's love of the Electabuzz baseball team, an analogue to the real world Osaka baseball team, the Hanshin Tigers. Not only is there a similarity in both Electabuzz and tigers being striped animals, but the Hanshin Tigers are known for having a very loyal fanbase.
Casey has been compared to Ash in his early days of Pokémon training. However, they have different styles of training, and different tastes in Pokémon.
Even though it is not confirmed there is a chance of a relationship with Georgio as both of them went on a date in A Date with Delcatty.

Casey's Pidgey and Rattata were only seen in Casey's battle with Ash in The Double Trouble Header. It is likely that these Pokémon were chosen as a reflection of her being a beginning trainer at the time. While Meganium, Beedrill and Elekid are often seen out of their Poké Balls, Pidgey and Rattata have not been heard of since Casey's debut episode.
