Other multis
Does Skill Link affect moves like Clamp and Whirlpool? Dragoness 11:09, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
- Those aren't swipe moves, so no. LimeGreenCharizard 19:52, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
Always Maximum
I just got a Minccino with Skill Link in W2, and when using it in battle, Double Slap hit 3 times (and didn't KO the opponent). So does the ability really push the hits to their maximum, or just increase the odds of more hits, because Double Slap has gotten 5 hits more times than I'd expect. Triple Kick
Despite Triple Kick becoming eligible for Skill Link in Gen V, it can only take advantage of it in extremely specific circumstances. I think this is notable trivia, but I wanted to post it here first before adding it to the article.
- However, as of Generation VI, this is only possible by trading an Aipom with Skill Link that learned Metronome via Move Tutor in FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald Versions into a Generation IV game and then into a Generation V game, and optionally into a Generation VI game. If Metronome becomes Triple Kick (or any other multi-strike move) under these circumstances and does not miss, it will hit the maximum number of times.

- It's actually also possible for Shellder or Heracross to learn Mimic in Gen III. To add a whole other set of alternatives, though, there's (probably) several combinations of moves like Entrainment/Skill Swap (especially if you remember those could themselves be called via Mirror Move, Mimic, Copycat, Assist, or Metronome) and Abilities like Trace where you could feasibly end up with a Pokemon knowing a 2-5-hit-move/Triple Kick with the Skill Link Ability. Most notably, Smeargle could easily know any Skill Link-eligible move and get itself the Skill Link Ability. Your case above isn't actually the only way. =( Tiddlywinks (talk) 20:42, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
- I guess I was too hung up on that one specific scenario to consider how other moves/Abilities could affect it. Best to just leave it as-is. --IWannaBeTheVeryBest 04:45, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
Trivia
Is it worth mentioning that every move that gets affected by Skill Link is, as of gen 4, a physical attack? Bootyzipperooni (talk) 01:46, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
