Molayne (Japanese: マーレイン Mullein) is a non-player character in the Generation VII games, Pokémon Sun and Moon. He is a Pokémon Trainer who specializes in Steel-type Pokémon. Sophocles affectionately refers to him as Big Mo (Japanese: マーさん Mul-san).

In the games

Molayne is a former Trial Captain, runs the Hokulani Observatory, and also manages the PC box system in Alola. He is a friend of Professor Kukui, the two having taken their island challenge around the same time. Molayne is one of the many Trainers who challenge the player for the title of Pokémon Champion.

"Just as I'd expect from an acquaintance of Kukui's! I too am proud that you are the strongest Trainer in Alola! I'll try to come hang out again. Pokémon battles with you are more fun than any game."
