Trivia
Origin
It may have been based on any number of lizards with extending tongues, in particular the fat-tailed gecko.
Name origin
Lickitung's name is a combination and corruption of lick and tongue. The bero in Beroringa may be from ベロ, tongue, or べろべろなめる berobero nameru, to lick up with one's tongue. Ringer is most likely derived from English ring, referring to the patterns on its body.
In other languages
- German: Schlurp - This name comes from the word slurp.
- French: Excelangue - Excellent means excellent, and langue means tongue. The word as a whole sounds like excellent.
- Korean: 내루미 Naerumi
