Trivia
I think the part of the trivia referring to shock waves should not be there. The Pokedex is referring to sonicbooms: the emphasis here is on the wave. The attack Shock Wave literally means shock, as in electricity. Think of it like as the former being a powerful wave, the latter being a wave of electricity. A trivial misunderstanding of grammar and physics. I vote for a removal. King Neoterikos 02:24, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

- |heartgolddex=If it flaps its wings really fast, it can generate shock waves that will shatter windows in the area.

Hmmm
In Generation I and II, anyone notice that the "face" (the ones that show a Pokémon's nest in the respective Pokédexes) look alot like a Yanma? LordHeinz 22:52, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
Possible error in Name Origin?
Is there a particular reason why, in Yanma's name origin, where it mentions being based on the 'Japanese' word yanma, contains Chinese characters? A simple google search brought me to the Chinese language wiki for dragonflies, which is probably correct, but just seems odd. I'm just wondering why it says Japanese, when the characters are clearly Chinese? I would edit it myself, but this is actually my very first post on a talk page, and I'm not really sure how to do so :/ Chippycavna 16:16, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- It's both Chinese and Japanese. If you search 蜻蜓 in Japanese Wikipedia, it redirects you to correct page about large dragonflies.--電禅Den Zen 16:22, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, just thought it seemed wrong/odd. Thanks for clearing that up :) Chippycavna 16:28, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Image Error
The image is morphed, is this because it is taking time to update or did something go wrong? --Landfish7 17:07, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
- It's because it was updated. --It's Funktastic~!話してください 17:12, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
Red-veined darter?
WWWJDIC lists "Yanma" as being used for dragonflies of the family Aeshidnae, and "Oniyanma" for the jumbo dragonfly (Anotogaster sieboldii), the largest species native to Japan, which are the big ones. It wouldn't be common to use "Yanma" for a darter; instead, "Akatonbo" would be used. Can someone revise the section?KrytenKoro (talk) 20:53, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
- It's a fictional name. Maybe they just liked a play on "Yanma" better than a play on "Tonbo" or something. In any case, the relation is strong enough to keep the section as it is, unless you can prove it's wrong. Tiddlywinks (talk) 22:31, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
Transparency error in uploaded Gen VI models?
Compared to the Gen VII models (https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:Spr_7s_193.png), it looks like the Gen VI models uploaded here (https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:Spr_6x_193.png) have a transparency error from the blue background of the Pokédex. If this could be fixed, that would be great. Thanks! Blueapple128 (talk) 17:32, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
- Me and theSLAYER from Project Pokémon got all the Generation VII models. We manually had to fix the transparency on Pokémon with semi-transparent wings (such as Yanma). It should be possible to do the same with the ones from Generation VI, but it likely won't be any time soon as other things have come up since then. Lady Ariel 19:31, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
Physiology
The Origin section lists the Red-Veined Darter as a possible basis for Yanma, but given the bands on its wings, I think it's more likely that it was based on the Banded Darter (Sympetrum pedemontanum), a close relative of the Red-Veined Darter. [1]
Also, given its blue body and green eyes, I wonder if Yanma's Shiny colorization might be based on the Blue Dasher (Pachydiplax longipennis)? [2] Icycatelf (talk) 19:22, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
