Lillie (Japanese: リーリエ Lilie) is a character introduced in the Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon arc.

History

Lillie debuts in The Decision and the Tournament of Six. She is first seen as a participant in a tournament taking place in a festival held in Iki Town. Before the tournament officially starts, Moon and Olivia travel to the tent Lillie stays in to place in her in the tournament, but it is interrupted when Nebby breaks out of Lillie's bag and runs away. The three travel to Mahalo Trail, where they find Nebby being harassed by a group of wild Spearow.

With Lillie too scared to save Nebby, Moon stepped in to help instead. As she defended Nebby from the Spearow, Nebby used its power to create a large explosion, destroying the bridge they were standing on. Moon and Nebby were saved from falling into the water by Tapu Koko and were placed back onto the ground. Lillie revealed that she was entered in the tournament as a mistake due to Nebby trying to escape from her bag at the wrong moment. Olivia offered to have Lillie withdrawn from the tournament, but Moon decided to take Lillie's place instead.

In The Announcement and the Prize, Lillie went to Professor Kukui's house, where she met with Professor Burnet. They watched the festival on the television, but Lillie ended up falling asleep during the second battle and dreamed about her mother and brother.

In Flash and Cosmog's Secret, Burnet decided to help Lillie get out of the house more by offering to go shopping together. Lillie, wanting to buy her own clothes, accepted the offer. As they headed off to Hau'oli City's boutique, Burnet asked Lillie if the clothes she was already wearing were also picked out by her. These words triggered painful memories of when Lillie was forcibly made to dress in her current attire by Lusamine against her wishes. Lillie's distress caused Nebby to fly out and begin clawing at the sky, causing an Ultra Wormhole to be created. When the experience caused Lillie to faint, Nebby stopped and went down to check on her condition out of concern.

In Shipwreck and "Oh, What Sharp Teeth You Have, Bruxish!", Lillie and Burnet used Mantine Surf to travel to Professor Kukui's yacht as it was heading off to Ula'ula. Shortly after arriving, the group was attacked by a wild Bruxish, which used its psychic powers to give everyone headaches and pass out. With Sharpedo Jet and Baht's help, Sun defeated Bruxish and saved Lillie, but ends up falling unconscious. Lillie and Sun later wash up on a beach on Ula'ula Island, where they were found by Acerola, who tooj the pair to the Aether House to recuperate. After waking up, Lillie properly introduced herself to Sun and explained how the Aether House serves as an orphanage for children and Pokémon.

In A Photoshoot and the Abandoned Thrifty Megamart, Acerola properly introduced herself and took Lillie and Sun to the site of the former Thrifty Megamart. Acerola gave Sun the task of taking a picture of the Totem Pokémon that lived inside the building. Shortly after entering, Lillie watched as Sun did battle with the Totem, a Mimikyu. Eventually, Sun managed to complete the trial by befriending the Mimikyu and adding it to his team.

With his task done, Sun used Stoutland Search to search for a Mirage Berry, as the ones he had before were on Professor Kukui's yacht when it was attacked by Bruxish. As they searched, Sun thanked the Rotom Pokédex for its help in the trial. During the conversation, Rotom revealed it once spoke with Nebby and discovered that it was connected to the Guardian Deities. Believing that Nebby could make his task of calming the Deities down easier, Sun asked Nebby to come out of Lillie's bag, only for to discover that it had evolved into the unresponsive Cosmoem. Afterward, Sun and Lillie returned to Aether House at Acerola's request.

In PASM18, Lillie and Sun are startled by the arrival of Sina and Dexio, a pair from the Kalos region. Sina and Dexio revealed that they have been searching for the Zygarde Cells and Cores scattered across Alola and request that Sun assist them in finding the remaining ones. Although he accepted the request, Sun had Lillie stay behind out of fear that Nebby might cause trouble by opening up another Ultra Wormhole.

Later, after meeting back up with Professor Burnet, Lillie watched as Professor Kukui, Molayne, Sophocles, and Acerola fought off a Celesteela and Guzzlord in order to prevent them from reaching Hokulani Observatory, which was being used as a shelter for those caught up in the Ultra Beasts' rampage. When she noticed a Type: Null among the combatants fighting the Ultra Beasts, Lillie recognized it and ran off to meet with the others at Route 10. Shortly after arriving, Lillie saw that Gladion was Type: Null's Trainer and called out to him. Gladion was distracted by Lillie long enough for Guzzlord to try and attack her, only for Type: Null to easily defeat it, evolving into Silvally in the process. To everyone else's surprise, Lillie and Gladion reveal themselves to be siblings as well as the children of Aether Foundation President, Lusamine. Lillie explained to Gladion about how she stole Nebby from Lusamine to prevent her from abusing its power. When Lillie presented a Sun Flute she had also taken from Aether Paradise, Gladion decided that they should head towards the Altar.

Lillie and Gladion later arrived on Poni Island, where they passed through Poni Wilds on their way to the Altar. As they traveled, Gladion told Lillie about the Legendary Pokémon of the sun and moon, Solgaleo and Lunala. He also revealed his plan to obtain the two Pokémon and have them help him destroy the Ultra Beasts. When Lillie suggested getting Sun, Moon, and the others to help them, Gladion refused, as he believed they were too out of the loop regarding their family troubles to be of any use. Lillie attempted to argue against this by mentioning how the others have helped her multiple times, only for a Xurkitree to appear and attack them both. As Gladion and Silvally fought Xurkitree, Nebby flew out of Gladion's hands and into the sky, where it met another Cosmoem.

After Xurkitree was defeated, Lillie and Gladion met up with Sun and Hapu. Hapu revealed that the Sun Flute is part of a pair with the Moon Flute in her possession. While Gladion was unable to get the Sun Flute to make any sounds, Sun managed to successfully play it. The four guardian deities of Alola then appeared and took Sun to the Poni Altar along with the Sun and Moon Flutes. Lillie, Gladion, and Hapu then proceeded to follow after them.

Once they arrived at their destination, Lillie and Gladion found Faba in battle with Anabel. Cornered, Faba was defeated and captured. After heading to the Altar, Lillie and the others found that Sun and Moon managed to evolve Nebby and the other Cosmoem into Lunala and Solgaleo, respectively. After Anabel explained what the two Legendary Pokémon are and their connection with Cosmog, Lillie revealed that the Aether Foundation had been abusing Nebby to force it to create wormholes. She took Nebby to save it, but was completely unaware that there was a second Cosmog the entire time. Shortly after, Anabel received a call from Looker, who reported that a large number of Ultra Beasts have made their way to Poni Island.

While Moon, Gladion, Anabel, and Hapu fought off the beasts, Sun chose to confront Faba about returning the island the Aether Foundation took from his great-grandfather. During the conversation, Faba revealed the island was given to Sun's great-grandfather from a member of the Foundation. When Lillie and Gladion heard this, they had an idea who it could be, but were interrupted by a larger than usual Ultra Wormhole appearing with a hand emerging from it. The hand took control of Solgaleo's body. The possessed Solgaleo grabbed Sun with its tail and jumped into the wormhole. Nebby, with Moon still on its head, activated its third eye and flew into the wormhole.

Nebby (Japanese: ほしぐもちゃん Hoshigumo-chan) is a Pokémon Lillie took care of after rescuing it from the Aether Foundation. It was first seen escaping from Lillie's bag and running off to Mahalo Trail, where it was attacked by wild Spearow. When Moon stepped in to save it, Nebby broke the bridge they were standing on, causing both to fall towards the water until they were saved by Tapu Koko. In PASM17, it was revealed to have evolved into a Cosmoem and later into a Lunala.

Lillie's Mantine

Lillie used a Ride Mantine to surf to Professor Kukui's yacht with Professor Burnet. Shortly after arriving, a wild Bruxish arrived and attacked everyone with its psychic abilities. During the commotion, Lillie was knocked off of Mantine, which then collided into the yacht, knocking itself out in the process.

None of Mantine's moves are known.
