Ida's Primarina first appeared in Balloons, Brionne, and Belligerence! as a Brionne. Together with its Trainer, Brionne put on a performance which included performing Hydro Vortex underneath Kanoa, who was out at sea on a surfboard. Ash, Lana and Mallow witnessed this in the audience which inspired Lana who was attempting to master Hydro Vortex with Popplio to ask Ida to help her train. Ida agreed and had Brionne create three Balloons which Brionne did, instructing Lana to have Popplio burst the balloons with its own. Brionne's balloons were strong and didn't pop but after some training, Popplio was soon able to burst them.
Shortly afterwards, Kanoa returned with a lead on treasure that they were hunting. Heading out to the location, Brionne created a balloon for Kanoa and they headed down to the ship but spotted a wild Dhelmise guarding the ship. Kanoa and Brionne returned to the surface to plan their next move, only for Dhelmise to attack the boat. Brionne attempted to battle Dhelmise, only to be defeated. Once Popplio mastered Hydro Vortex and defeated Dhelmise, Kanoa and Brionne returned to the ship and retrieved the treasure which turned out to be a Mystic Water.
Brionne reappeared in Evolving Research!, where it was revealed to have evolved into Primarina. Ida met up with Lana at Seafolk Village whilst she was visiting Poni Island and showed Primarina off to Lana. Primarina showed off its melodic water balloon display, which led Lana to ask her to train her and Popplio again which Ida agreed to do. Primarina and Popplio trained on the shore where Primarina showed off its singing which Popplio attempted to master. Later that night, Ida put on a display to the crowd with Primarina using Oceanic Operetta which encouraged Lana and Popplio to train harder. The next morning as Kanoa and Ida prepared to leave, Popplio evolved into Brionne.
Description: Brionne strikes a series of synchronized poses with its Trainer to build Z-Power. It then swims through a body of water, becoming covered in a light blue torrent of water in the process. It then swims in a circle, creating a vortex of water which attacks the opponent.
Description: Primarina strikes a series of synchronized poses with its Trainer to build Z-Power. It then sings a song and generates a gigantic bubble from it nose. Primarina then moves the bubble over the opponent and sings another song, causing the bubble to burst.
Description: Primarina is able to make water balloons of varying size. The balloons are able to hold people and Pokémon inside of it, allowing those inside to breathe underwater. The balloons can also be used as an attack, able to be fired at opponents and reflect attacks, as well as absorb Water attacks. Primarina is capable of creating multiple, colorful balloons.
